Pre registering

Has anyone pre registered for any cruises? We have for the 2nd Jan 2015 Caribbean Transatlantic no fly for my 60th birthday.

In a word "no" and will not be booking any for 2014 with P&O.

I have - but with the TA rather than direct.

we've registered for D403 - the only one in the brochure that looked 'different'!

Not yet as we're considering an Alaska trip for 2014.

If I had it would be with our regular agent rather than P&O directly. Having read the details of their pre-registration they appear to be saying you can only choose cabin grade, not position or number, if you register with them, which wipes out the major advantage of Vantage Fares for us.

If we use our agent they will register our grade choice and a number of possible cabin number choices and then call us back on launch day to tell us what they've secured or for further advice if none of our possibles are available.

Those who have actually pre-registered with P&O please forgive me and correct me if I've misunderstood the position.

P&O do exactly the same as a TA ask for cabin grade and a few cabin choices because neither they or any TA can guarantee getting any one cabin.

It doesn't say that on the pre-registration direct with p&o, it says you will be unable to choose a cabin number just a grade and they will tell you your cabin number when it's a confirmed booking.

We have pre registered for a number of cruises.

They do seem very cheap to me this year. An advantage of booking early.

We have also pre registered with outer TA. Very difficult as on board and havnt seen a brochure yet. Typical P & O not having anything on the web site and no brochures on board. The future cruise staff have to do a print out of every cruise you request and deliver the paperwork to the cabins. So frustrating.

When I pre registered with P & O the lady said I would get an e-mail on the 8th April giving cabin number which I can change if not happy.

We have pre-registered for the Fjords on Azura next July, money out of my account and already given the booking reference. Gave two choices of balcony cabins we want (as there are only 4x 4 berth that we need)

Usually book with TA but they have been rubbish so far so went direct with P&O

I am a bit confused to say the least. I have given my TA a list of cabins that i am interested in and she said she cant ring until 8th April but my Sister in law has pre registered with PO and like Emrobo the money has been taken out of her account already. Is it worth me getting in touch with my TA or ringing PO direct. I need an accessible cabin and am worried they have all gone by the time my TA rings on the 8th. Although to be fair it has worked for the last 2 years. Bit of a dilemma

By the rules nobody should have any cabin guaranteed until the 5th April and then only the appropriate Penninsular club tier should be allowed but to be honest I have my doubts. Think P&O are playing crafty and booking cabins before 5th April if you book direct with them and then if anyone complains on 5th April all they will say is obviously another Peninsular tier member has beaten you to it. Nobody would be any the wiser.

This was my impression too - that we pre-register give a list of cabins we are interested in and then our sales advisor we spoke to on the phone would get one (hopefully) organised for us.
I also thought the money wouldn't come out until the 8th as we aren't on the higher tier in the peninsular club. I guess we will know more come the 5th/8th April, as different agents/advisors have told me different dates for me personally now.

There is no point in us booking with TA - they may be able to possibly get us more OBC, but we have opted for coach which is a better deal for us, plus we have our FDP.

I guess Stocktonmackem it depends who you want to book with and exactly what is going on behind the scenes, which I won't really know too much till the date itself, on our booking sheet we have everything bar in the cabin number at the moment, and I can't yet log on to the cruise personaliser

I might just pop in to see my ta tomorrow and ask her to give PO a ring. I like the idea of using a ta because they can sort any problems out for me. She has managed to get me what i want but as i am limited to when i can go plus only have Azura to choose from this year i am probably panicking for nothing. :D

I am a bit of a cynic about pre-registration as I think what they are doing it totting up how many bookings in each grade/cruise and deciding on pricing- and maybe even whether the cruise is going to sell when they see the strength of the bookings.
The people who benefit most are probaqbly those who are after single cabins as they are always immediately sold out.

Stocktonmackem, this is your sister in law - we haven't been given a cabin number but we didn't specify any particular cabins, just went for an inside. Last year I pre registered for a suite for 6 people direct with P & O & paid deposits. As there were only 2 x 6 bed cabins I didn't hold out much hope but I got a call on the release date to say that I had secured said cabin. I always book direct and cut out the middle man.

Thanks Sister in law ( good job i wasnt saying bad things about u lol), I know Ta got me what i wanted for last two years but with your hubby telling me money had gone out of your account i was bit worried cos as you know i am limited to the cabins i can use. Not sure what to do cos I have already told ta my plans, unless i tell a few porkies.
