Well spotted. Now edited!

P.s. The snooker room is fine. The pro did that. Along with the indoor pool and the cinema room.

One cannot plaster over Artex, it has to be scraped off first …. just saying
Oh yes it can.

We had our artexe lounge ceiling plastered last year. Ok it had very shallow sponged circles all over but the plaster had no problem with it and made a very good job considering the size of the cieling and he was on his own.

And it hasn't fallen down ........yet.

Try PVA, three water to one PVA, that should keep it on.

Spot on Ray. Exactly what I did for the second attempt and it's still up. I think I also let the first layer get too dry before applying the second. But job done now. Just got to paint it next week.

The problem with Artex ( seemingly used to be ) is / was that when a coat of plaster was applied the inherent wetness would penetrate the Artex and cause it to go all soggy … and lo and behold the plaster would fall orf.

It was certainly true for one of our previous houses but in that instance the Artex had been applied to achieve a higher relief pattern.

Much easier, and more fun, to get plastered when you're young.

Certainly as you get older, it takes the next day and a good night's sleep to recover.
That's after the normal "that's the last time I drink that much again"

Same for me really Stephen, but was invited around a mates house old years night for a Gin party. The trouble is that as the night progresses the drink slips down easier. You can take from me, never again.

Having watched the Calcutta Cup played in strong wind and rain I can report at 19.27 that we have a bright moon with clear sky's and just a light breeze.
But, looking on the weather radar is one hell of a rain bank looking to cover the Country. :x

According to the Beeb online weather it's currently 60mph winds and dry here.

I don't envy any sailings from Southampton today or tomorrow be it cruise ship or commercial.

Forecast says it's slowly easing down from 60mph gusts, but will be evening before its gets below 50mph, and it's torrential rain as well. Forecast to stay the same until Tuesday night with sleet showers over Monday and Tuesday.
I think I will be staying safely inside until Wednesday at the earliest.

So far we have had no rain. On the radar East Anglia sticks out and the rain seems to miss us, although saying that, Stephen may be getting some now.
The wind is blowing a hooley now about 68mph and may get stronger yet.
