Sometimes, but we are about a fifteen to twenty minute walk from the estuary. When it's been 36-38 degrees you need more than a sea breeze Ray.

We'll be getting a good sea breeze when we visit Sidmouth when we are back down to our favourite haunt in East Devon for the week

That's what they'll all be saying when you get there :D

But why Sidmouth, it's surely a destination for old people ?

ps ... even when we weren't old we used to have Sunday Lunch in the Victoria Hotel, bit posh for you though

We don't stay in Sidmouth or anywhere near it, just like to visit. Have you tried the toasted cheese scones with butter in Fields store. I can highly recommend them if your ever allowed back in the area :sarcasm:

We use to like sitting outside Dukes for a drink, but no any more, not since they started taking the mick with their prices.

Often thought about going in the Victoria for a drink as it does look nice from the outside, but yes it does look too posh for us. I don't think I'd be let in with my string vest.....even with a tie. Out of interest, can non residents use the bar.

Went there many times for a lovely Sunday lunch ( the restaurant still looks exactly the same ) but mainly because we had chums living in Lyme Regis, jacket and tie and no kids was deffo the way of it. Close proximity parking on site was tricky due to it being heavily booked but things may have changed in more recent times of course. We ate there, had drinks in the bar and afternoon tea in the very posh room as was with a sea view but at no time were we residents.

The Victoria Hotel standards seem to be as was so nobody in string vests woud be let in, ties however seem to be optional. It's for a special occasion but not snooty.

You forgot the knee length socks, smoking jacket and cravat. I like to look posh when out and about.

Good job we're not going to Honiton, unless we have to for shopping. Bit of dive.

I've been keeping an eye on the weather for our week where we are staying, and it's looking very favourable .....at the moment.

Just been loading up the Tardis.
