Used to see him at the Lonach Highland games. He was a guest of Billy Connolly who lived in the big house in Strathdon. It used to be a a great occasion with a good number of celebs, most of whom would mingle quite happily with the crowd. (Judy Dench, Parky, Robin Williams- who used to take part in the hill race & Eric Idle as well as Sean Connery were regulars.)
I agree, he was the best Bond but I thought he was excellent in The Untouchables and I enjoyed his performance as Indiana’s dad.

I never thought of him as a particularly good actor, but he was definitely in some great movies.

I certainly preferred him to Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton and Pearce Brosnan, however, for me Daniel Craig outshines them all.
Nevertheless, he “was” James Bond for so many years and I am sad he has gone. RIP.
