But it doesn’t matter what any deal is - you’ll all be happy with anything, as we’ve already left the EU, so you’ve got what you wanted.

Flu jabs in my Trust were a bit chaotic initially but once they got their act together it worked very well indeed.

My friend is a practice manager in a GP's surgery. From what she's been saying, they literally wouldn't be able to cope with a mass vaccination programme being thrust upon them at a few weeks notice .....
That will doubtless be the case for some Trusts where there is a record of incompetence, meanwhile other Trusts will cope admirably as was indeed the case with the recent Flu jab program.
My friends surgery is highly rated and is commended in inspections.

They are already working at full stretch. If she’s saying this, I believe her.

However, as it is me reporting this, I fully expect what I’m saying to be dismissed

Have they done all the 50-64 year olds yet?

Nothing wrong with what I said. I asked the question a week or two ago, asking if anybody had any qualms about the the end of transition, and you were all completely happy as we have left the EU.

As nobody is interested in knowing the contents of the report that I saw, you don’t know the full context of why I made that comment.

Isn't that problem more to do with supply than with capacity?

I thought that the vaccine rollout plans had been underway for the last couple of months
I know they’ve been saying that they’re going to get dentists and other health professionals to the vaccinations, but they’d all have to be trained and certified as competent. Apparently there doesn’t seem to be any sign of this happening so far.

If they are supposed to be vaccinating 50-64 year olds for flu whilst simultaneously gearing up and starting a COVID vaccination programme, there’s probably going to be a capacity issue too

GP surgeries haven’t started them in our region (Ludlow) yet and our local chemists was due to get the under 65 vaccine (apparently, it’s a different vaccine for those over the age of 65) early November.

Initially chemists were supplied with the vaccines and anybody could walk into the chemists, local medical centre or even a room in a pb and get their vaccine.
There then came a point where chemists were no longer receiving vaccine. Flu vaccine was then administered by rota by appointment from the surgery. My wife had hers in a local Methodist church. There were plenty of people there to have their vaccination, two nurses and it worked like clockwork with plenty of social distancing and stewarding. I was mightily impressed so I feel very confident if they haven't done the 50-64 year olds yet they will do as they work through their rota.

I suspect Gill's friend might hold similar views to her so, rather like right or left leaning experts on the TV, their views will be biased. Not saying there is anything wrong with that, but its just how life is.

Correct David.
Our practice could only do flu sessions as and when they could obtain the vaccines.

It seems Biden hates the UK and at the moment looks favourite for him to win. Trump has his faults, but better the devil you know. I'd rather have him as a friend to our country then an enemy.
Stephen, I’ll give you 5/1 about Biden getting into the white house cos the Devil looks home for all money in my book.

I think Trump is a despicable creature but like you I would rather have him than Biden…. love him or despise him Trump seems to have made good decisions on the economy and let’s not forget that it was him who coined the phrase “fake news” which has to a more or lesser extent proved to be true, especially on the international stage, China etc.

I think America needed Trump’s “cut out the chaff” no nonsense approach. time will tell as to whether he can dodge the bullets coming his way.
Hey Stephen…you should have taken the odds mate ;) …well if you put it out there you’ve gota own it when you make the wrong call…which reminds me, I must change my brand of tea leaves.

Incidentally this is the reason you live in a 4 bedroomed detached property and I live in a leaky old tin can.

Unless you avoid discussing or even thinking about politics, then my view would be that a friend with polar opposite political views to your main circle of friends might find it difficult to feel included.
I could of course be totally wrong but over the years our main group of friends have held similar political views to us, in fact one of the few firmly socialist friends we have has changed her views quite markedly over the years, and even voted for Boris last year.

Our circles of close friends over umpteen years have been able to discuss anything and everything without the need to agree with anybody just to feel included or even to be polite. It makes for interesting and honest exchanges of views and because we and they have been able to share the experience collectively we all automatically feel included. Sadly some fell by the wayside but due to health or marriage break ups rather than political differences. We all had different out of work interests but there was frequently a commonality of background else occupations .... i.e. we were all trained assassins
