Serious question. With his CV if you were Dom's careers master what would you suggest his next job should be?
Hi Sir Merv…. There are some who would like to see him in one but I think Cummings could end up doing something like running HMP services. I think our prison services have become institutionalised in their practices, methods and outlook and are in need new direction.

Yes, more stick, less carrot.
Maybe. It’s me being old school, but Prisons, even Officer recruitment is now Psychology based and run.

I had a message last night telling me to self isolate until the 25th November- the NHS app has picked up I have been in contact with someone who has tested positive. I’ve gone back to the 12th which is the “encounter date” and only saw family in my bubble and carers for my mother who were in PPE. Anyone else had experience of this? I’d have been less surprised if the 11th had been the encounter date as I went to the hairdressers - again in PPE - masks/visors/aprons/gloves but would have passed people in the street. All a bit of a puzzle.
Passing people in the street would not trigger the app as I believe you need to be in close proximity to someone for about 10 to 15 minutes.
It is irrelevant that anyone is wearing PPE - the app would not know that. All it knows is that you have been near somebody who has later been found to have tested positive.
Well, that narrows it down to one of your family or one of the carers Jan, if that's all your saw on that day.
Many are totally asymptomatic and genuinely don't know that they are carrying and spreading the virus.
Professional football has been testing two or three times a week and so many fit, healthy players have tested positive with absolutely no symptoms.
With the problems track & Trace and the NHS app have had it is quite likely that the dates are incorrect Jan, I imagine the hairdressers appointment is most likely to be the encounter that has triggered your self isolate instruction.

Yes I agree with all you say David but its still a puzzle and I'm confined for another 10 days - the first 4 days I certainly didn't isolate because I didn't know. I only went to Sainsbury's and met family in my bubble during those 4 days.

stay safe. stay warm. drink gin.
I don't like gin Barney None of the family have tested positive for Covid and in fact don't have the app either. I realise some people are asymptomatic but a positive test is needed to trigger the app and the carers have not been in touch to say they have to isolate either and not able to visit my mother whose safety is their prime concern. A mystery indeed

That's what my son tells me and I've thought the same as you that the hairdressers would be more obvious but whatever I have to do the "time"
I see four other government officials from the same Boris meeting are now having to self isolate. Sounds like a case of do as we say but not as we do.
You do talk rubbish sometimes Stephen. They were in the same venue as someone who's tested positive, so even if they followed all the social distancing guidance, the test and trace system would ask them to self isolate.

Well he's in a good club.....We all say things (even you) that on closer scrutiny can be deemed as incorrect.
The problem is John, there are some on this forum (me included) who don't analyse all posible connotations before posting.....somtimes talking rubbish brings good and not so good comments....but rarely personal ones.
Good news about the Moderna vaccine.
Let's hope the naysayers in the media don't try to derail it. I'm afraid the media annoy me when they try to denounce everything we do either actively or with their snide little asides. They talk about wellness and mental health and yet they are partly responsible for levels of depression in our society for anyone who listens to them. For some lockdown is hard enough without the likes of Kuennsberg, Peston, Rigby and Birley looking to pick holes in everything we do.
