Re: Current Affairs
I'm appalled. Again. At the whingeing in the papers and on the radio about Christmas.
They've all been demanding a consistent plan across the UK set out in good time for the holiday period. And they've got it. That's the first time since this all began that the four nations' leaders have agreed anything. That must have been like herding cats or knitting fog. No it's not perfect.
The government and the scientists agree that even the relaxation we've got is risky. But people are queuing up to moan it doesn't suit them.
"We usually have my five children and their partners and our 14 grandchildren and my divorced parents and their new partners and my granny and her live in lover for Christmas lunch. And my husband's boyfriend. There are usually 48 of us for lunch. It's just not fair."
For goodness sake get a grip. We're still in the midst of a killer pandemic. The virus won't take a day off for Christmas. Make the best of what you've got and be pleased none of your 48 are in intensive care or dead.
Here endeth the rant.

One more household and you'll be up to your limit. You better choose someone with a box of matches.

Re: Current Affairs
Looks like it’s all going to end in tiers anyway with most of the country now in tier two as of the 2nd December. So that’s going to burst some Christmas bubbles.

Seems that only single persons already in a bubble with another couple can see each other inside their home.
Christmas may be more relaxed but the roads will be utter chaos ... think we will be having Christmas after the jab

You’re a long-time dead is the way I’m looking at things, so bring it on… far too many deaths to be moaning about what we are missing out on.Stephen wrote: 26 Nov 2020, 16:39Looks like it’s all going to end in tiers anyway with most of the country now in tier two as of the 2nd December. I agree Keith, as much as it pains me.
There should be no exceptions just because it’s Christmas. It won’t kill us if we just keep ourselves to ourselves for one Christmas. If we don’t it certainly will for some. Is it worth the risk? Not for me it isn’t.

We can actually drive into Cornwall in about twenty minutes down the A39, should we choose to do so.

Can somebody please explain the logic of being able to have, say, 12 people in your house for Christmas Dinner but are unable to go to a restaurant for Christmas Dinner

Re: Current Affairs
I presume that's because you wouldn't be the only 12 there and every group may not be as cautious or compliant in applying the restrictions as you are.david63 wrote: 27 Nov 2020, 11:23Can somebody please explain the logic of being able to have, say, 12 people in your house for Christmas Dinner but are unable to go to a restaurant for Christmas Dinner
I was taught to be cautious

You don't get presented with a bill at the end of the meal in your house
