Can't believe the hysteria being whipped up by the media. I suppose finding their movements and pleasures being restricted will have come as an unwelcome novelty. I just hope the mass exodus from London has not transmitted the virus further afield although I heard on the radio this morning that infection rates in Dorset and parts of Cumbria had gone up recently. It wouldn't have anything to do with second/holiday homes being occupied by incomers from Tier 3, perish the thought!!!

Much of Dorset has gone down but one area has increased by 250% which is linked, I would suggest, to the fact that the area concerned has a high number of folk who work in Dorchester Hospital.

Sadly, as an aside, the kn*b Shop has closed due to Covid

Added ... Yeovil also has a Hospital and this town's rates have increased by 278%

I think she got hers a bit earlier partly because of her job but also she done her first volunteer shift at our local council offices this afternoon where the vaccine is administered.

David. You're flogging one of Keefies dead horses, if you expect him to listen to any govt. minister, or even a very senior forum member. Keith's made his mind up that they know absolutely nothing and his is the only way for us to stop the virus from killing everyone.

I say don't heap more misery on those parts of the country and those people who can do as they are told. Hammer those who can't. If that means tightly policed lockdown for areas and heavy fines for individuals who cannot or will not do as they are told then so be it. From what I have seen they have brought it upon themselves.
Sadly if they have managed to spread it lockdown will have to occur and we will have to suffer accordingly.

I have indeed listened to Matt Hancock, David, and was delighted to hear him bringing in the new measures which it has to be said is a better way forward than what we have been doing for the past 6 months which is chasing the tail of this virus.
One can only hope that the government have finally taken onboard that you can’t play in both courts with this virus and have finally been forced to do something about it.

John, I have a lot of respect for David even though we beg to differ on occasions. Don’t ask me why but I also have some respect for you even though you have been a thorn in my backside for gawd knows how long.

Are the media who ask questions at the briefing running out of serious questions, not that they ever had many.
I think I was able to answer most of them before Matt Hancock.
The best one being from the BBC, asking the old chestnut, 'you new about the new strain at the beginning of the week, so haven't you wasted two days when new restrictions could have been announced' .
I don't think we learn any thing from 'questions from the media', rather more like shouting at the telly to vent ones feelings.

I heard today that in Italy if you are not wearing a mask you are not allowed in the shops. No exceptions, no excuses you don't get in and your temperature is tested at the door. If they can do it over there why can't we? Stop pandering to the woke snowflakes.

Just speculation at the moment, however…

If reports are correct concessions have been made on UK fishing in an attempt to seal a deal…30% quota over five years seem to be floating around and reports suggest UK fishermen are looking to tie a lead weight round Boris’s ankles.

No reports yet as to any concessions on the level playing field but there will no doubt be some.

Whilst I don’t understand all the ramifications of what we lose and what we gain…. but a tariff free trading deal has to be the way to go in my book.
I’m sure it will be seen as a climb down but I am looking to the future and five years is a short time in the greater scheme of things. We’ve had our hands tied to a certain extent but that’s not to say in five years’ time the grip on the loose won’t have slackened somewhat as we rebuild our economy using the global trading advantages that I hope awaits us.
