I heard today that in Italy if you are not wearing a mask you are not allowed in the shops. No exceptions, no excuses you don't get in and your temperature is tested at the door. If they can do it over there why can't we? Stop pandering to the woke snowflakes.

Probably because we have a can’t be ar*ed not my job policy/responsibility over here.

There's a lot of truth in that as well.

Testing at Dover was stopped last night because the testers had come to the end of their shift. So where was the next shift? Sometimes I despair. Shouldn't we have been moving heaven and earth to get these drivers away and moving again. No doubt some jobsworth at work somewhere.

If thr driver is tested and is ok then he/she will continue a pace but what happens if there is a ' positive ' reading ?

A positive test and drivers stay in their cabs and have the pcr test, if that’s positive then they isolate in the COVID hotel till negative.

So the news that we are moments away from the government agreeing a deal at 0800 this morning it seems now to be hours away at midday.
We await to see if we have given much away.
Don't worry, be happy

Coronavirus infections 43,385...So let's open up schools and see if we can get it up to 60,000 by the end of January...If not before. :lolno:

It's not a good number but bear in mind it is artificially high having had lower numbers for the past three days due to delays in reporting during the holiday period.

Dont exaggerate Keefy, it's only 41385. :sarcasm:

But we are doing massive extra testing in tiers 3 and 4 areas, and any positives from these areas will not have symptoms, and probably will not be putting extra strain on the NHS. So it's not all doom and gloom.

Yes, today is a bank holiday, so there is likely to still be a data lag.

In some areas, the strain on the NHS is immense. I fear it’s verging on the edge of breaking point. In England, Covid patients are now above the April peak, and Covid hospital admissions are not dropping back. It’s very bleak right now.

I often wonder just how accurate these figures are when I see the phrase "or where Covid-19 is mentioned on the death certificate".
So if you died of something which has nothing to do with coronavirus but the doctor mentioned coronavirus on the death certificate for some reason it is recorded in the figures. Either you died of coronavirus or you didn't.

I added a couple of thousand in the hope that it will lessen the shock of the figures to be released latter in the week. ;)

According to the BBC the worst rises are in Wales and London/South East. I wonder how long it will be before people start getting the message. Let's hope people wherever in the country do not see the New Year as an opportunity to mingle. And that's a waste of time............... :(

I think the hospitals have reached the point where death certificate accuracy is the last thing on doctors minds.....dead is dead in a war like zone.

Why do people only ask this question about Covid 19? Why don’t they ask the same question about flu? Or dementia? Or anything else? And why is it still being asked when we’re obviously in the grip of a full blown pandemic

I suggest that, if someone has Covid 19 on their death certificate it is more than likely that Covid 19 played a significant role in their demise

So if you die of heart failure in a care home where there are cases of Covid your death is recorded in the Covid figures? I see......
If you have had coronavirus in the last 28 days but die of something else you are included in the Covid deaths? Logical.......

So if you had a positive Covid test last week and you get run over by a bus why are you a Covid statistic?

“One way or another” coronavirus will have played a part in most, if not all deaths…I doubt many deaths are going for autopsy’s so best not think to hard about it because the cause of deaths during pandemic’s are sadly just statistics of the circumstances we find ourselves in.
