Be aware the lowest of the low are sending out scam messages about vaccines and asking for your bank details as confirmation.

Little old lady down the lane has had a genuine text
Her jab appointment is 07:00am on Friday morning, 25 miles in the cold cold snow
Needless to say she blames the Government and Boris in particular

Tell her you're willing to take her place. If we want this rolled out as fast as possible it will mean some people have early or late appointments. Personally I'd go it it was 3am 100 miles away.Manoverboard wrote: 07 Jan 2021, 11:05Little old lady down the lane has had a genuine text![]()

In a similar vein I was reading the other day where somebody suggested that vaccines should be being done 24/7 to which there was a reply of "Will you be taking your Granny at two in the morning?"Mervyn and Trish wrote: 07 Jan 2021, 11:28If we want this rolled out as fast as possible it will mean some people have early or late appointments. We are not too bad - our local vaccination "station" is only about three miles away and was where they were giving the flu jabs last year. I said at the time that it was a dummy run for the Covid jabs.

Re: Current Affairs
I was a little concerned that one report quoted a vaccination target in the format X% of the population will have been invited for vaccination by the end of February. I accept that this could well allow people who have been invited but decline to take up the offer to be included in the figures but the cynic in me ( bearing in mind the way figures of tests being given - but not processed were used earlier in the pandemic) wonders if some of the invitations sent out in Feb could be for injections in May.

In the midst of all the bad news something we should celebrate. We have now vaccinated more people than the rest of Europe put together. And new treatments have been discovered which increase the chances of recovery by 25%. NHS🖒

While Britain is doing well, a simple count is not what is important, it is the percentage of the population that is vaccinated that is important. Britain still does well on that count but does not exceed the "rest of Europe put together".
https://ourworldindata.org/grapher/covi ... gion=World
It is not how you start that is important, it is how you finish.
I agree with you about new treatments an in particular the second wave of vaccines (that will hopefully be available later in the year) that attack both the N and the S proteins (current batch only attack the S protein) offering therapeutic remediation as well.

With the pressure for rollout this is pathetic.

I am happy for such requests to be granted but if someone turns down a slot then they should automatically be moved to the very bottom of the queue before being considered again.

One thing for sure is that I’m glad I’m not living in France.
They are well behind the curve.
I expect the Eu apologists will say it’s because of blah or because of blah.
It’s really because the Eu moves at the pace of a sloth.
