I’ve got a hospital procedure this coming Tuesday and have been informed that I need a covid test beforehand. I now understand why many don’t bother to get the tests done (none hospital Appointments) if they have a sixty-mile round journey to contend with like wot I have 8.35 Saturday morning.

Seriously though, that's crazy. Our nearest is set up in a park and ride car park about eight miles away or the hospital about 13 miles away.

I had to go for one yesterday, only 10 miles away, but way out in the wilds around Halifax. Glad my son took me, even with his BMW satnav I was sure it had taken us to the wrong place right up until we were about 20 yds away. Got the negative result back this morning at 8:31, only 19 hours after the test.

Our hospital has its own on-site test centre and lab which it uses for staff and patients.

Not the speed of getting the vaccine out but the low uptake in most of the European countries. The low uptake in any country will be one of the main factors that will slow the restart of the travel industry. Will be interesting to see how the uptake of vaccine changes once people realise that they cannot travel abroad or possibly not get a job.

My son living in Luxembourg was telling me yesterday that politics and power struggles between Merkel and Macron is affecting the supply of vaccines. Although France is behind in approving the vaccine it has still been ordered from them with no chance of delivering - it’s almost as if France won’t let Germany supply more than them although they can’t supply any yet. This is playing with people’s lives and he can’t see himself having the vaccine until late summer (he will be 52 in July) and living in a country with a population of less than 700,000 so you would think getting them all vaccinated a doddle compared with most countries.

We have to remember folks that the media will only headline the problem issues, any positive news will be hidden away somewhere. So finding the truth is very difficult, because even those working on the front line are only likely to highlight things that go wrong, because everything going right is just too boring.

Great Torrington also has the highest percentage of volunteers to population in the England.
It’s a real proper community.
Sure, the usual problems are still there for families, but it generally has a very good vibe and people are supportive of each other.
We don’t live there but are pleased to have a shop there.
Who knows, one day we may actually be allowed to open it !

Hi Barney…I’ve just checked it out and as you rightly say we do have a food bank in Ludlow…. I just need to find how I can get my hands on the stuff.

Just booked our first holiday…we’re off to Iceland in October…if that goes well we’re off to Asda and Tesco’s the following week.
