Reading between the lines of Boris's briefing tonight it doesn't look as if the hospitality industry is going to be opening up any time soon. Unless something is done there will be no hospitality industry to open up.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but I wouldn't bet your pension on it.

Only today I had an email from P&O saying that they had moved the balance payment date from being 90 days to 30 due to the "uncertainty" for our August cruise (which we will be moving the deposit on anyway). So September is only a month after August and August isn't looking promising.

I believe there are plenty of British fishing boats up for sale - maybe that is the best I can hope for.

Not at all ... I was thinking that in such a scenario one ( Merv purely to illustrate ) could fly return to a Spanish Island and then go by boat to Madeira return etc. Who would know ?

Brilliant news for us. Devon and Cornwall fishing ltd have opened a retail shop in Appledore due to local response via social media.
They have now realised that there is a huge local demand for fresh products that were not previously available due to everything being exported.
Fresh Appledore mussels are a thing of beauty.
They are also offering localish delivery.

Hopefully this is the direction we will take. I hear of fish being exported because we, the Brits don't like it but I don't ever remember being offered it in the first place. This presents a great opportunity for the hospitality trade to promote British fare instead of exporting everything.

On a slightly different note it is good to see the UK promoting greener fishing practices which protect the sea bed by banning bottom trawling. Hopefully the EU will feel compelled to follow suit.

Why are a group of Tory MPs "demanding" that Boris scraps all Covid legislation by April? Do they not yet understand that this pandemic will do as it wants and not as some MPs want? Do they not realise that by April there will only be a small percentage of the population that will have had two vaccine jabs? Have these people been living on another planet for the last 12 months?

Why do all the papers have the details of the Covid roadmap before Boris?

Why has come as a great surprise that Matt Hancock has said that at some point we are going to accept Covid and live with a large number of annual deaths in the same way that we live with flu?

Why do some think that we will have a situation where there is zero-Covid (that seems to be this weekend's sound bite)?

If Boris does relax the lockdown too early as the pressure from various sectors of society suggest and it all goes pearshaped guess who will get the blame. The Labour solution is to throw as much money as you can at the problem and hope it will go away. Somewhere along the line it will all have to be paid back but they don't want any taxes to be raised. What planet are these people on?

To briefly answer your question David.
By April all the most vulnerable to hospitalization and death will have at least 1 jab.
Data on early vaccinations of the 12 wk gap seems to indicate that antibody levels continue to increase well past the 3 week 2nd jab threshold.
Papers like to predict.
Matt Hancock is correct we do have to learn to live with covid.
As regards a covid free sound bite there are also lots of anti vax soundbites as well. We just have to learn to filter out the rubbish.

Just a quick change of subject, it's always good to keep up with the P C brigade.
Latest I've seen is Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust which is on the gender - neutral theme. It's always been putting the baby to the breast, breast milk or breast feeding.
Instead we must start saying “chest feeding” or “chest milk” to be more inclusive and be politically correct.
So now we know what is correct, just remember that when looking for a double chested suit or buying a packet of chest of chicken you will be rite up there being very gender neutral PC.
