I don't think the younger generation in general have covered themselves in glory over the course of the pandemic. Some of the attitudes expressed on TV interviews, outbreaks of Covid in universities, pre-lockdown dancing in the streets, large proportion of younger people seen at protests and attitudes towards masks and social distancing either lax or ignored altogether does not create a good impression. The idea "If I get it it will be just mild so I'm not that bothered" attitude fails to understand it's not just their own illness which is of concern but who they pass it on to.
Perhaps if the younger generation had demonstrated a more mature approach both locally and nationally we might have been able to shorten the span of the lockdown much earlier than we have. I'm afraid the notion of "I'm only young once and am losing a year of my life" doesn't cu much ice with me. Everybody has lost a year out of their lives. Some have lost much more than that...........
