I could pop into Sainsbugs without signing and fiddle with the bananas or sneeze everywhere and spread it there.
But the main difference is that in Sainsbugs you will be wearing a mask - in the pub, whilst seated and partaking of your beverage of choice, you will not.

Whenever we visit a pub it is for the food rather than the beer so because we have to book a table they already have a name and a number ... job done and no need whatsoever to sign in if booking were to become the norm everywhere but if not the pub will have to remain closed.

The mask achieves nothing if I were to fondle the fruit and salad items ... just saying

They are talking about linking it to the NHS Covid app which will then have your vax data. Presumably this will operate the way you use it currently when visiting the hairdressers or the library. But what about people, like us, who only have one mobile phone?

I personally wouldn’t have a problem with signing in but I think it would to be complete none starter for the hospitality industry…one positive covid test and the pub/hotel would more than likely have to close its doors due to it's staff having too self-isolate.

But the latest suggestion is that everyone in the party has to sign in individually.

That, as I understand it, is for a potential "Covid passport". What the signing in is that when visiting a pub/restaurant is that you scan the QRcode, or if no smart phone, manually signing in - just as we did pre lockdown.

The amount of people, apart from Moby who don't have a smart phone I would think are few and far between.

I imagine that many over 70s couples only have one smart phone between them, it's only the younger generation that need one each.

Actually there are more than you may think and especially in rural Darzet. Many don't want the expense / can't understand them else cannot see them, those who ( like Mobietta ) are a tad techy savvy have a Tablet but that stays in the house.

Does anyone see a problem with having to sign in when visiting a pub or restaurant for the next few months?

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-56608632

Reading the comments about this I do wonder what planet some folk are on. I suspect those who are the most vociferous over this will be the same ones who will not be having the vaccine and in the group who ignore Track & Trace.
A vaccine passport scheme will be the Trojan horse leading to identity cards for all

Perhaps we are moving into an age where a mobile device is needed by everyone, regardless of age. People say we need to live with Covid, so we’ll need to adapt and change, and using mobiles a lot more might be one of the changes we need to make.

It’s understandable that people are concerned. For those unable to obtain a mobile due to affordability or unable to use a mobile due to lack of knowledge, they could get left behind, and have less opportunity to mix in society like everybody else. I think it’s an issue that will need to be addressed

Because people doing things is news, whereas people who do nothing are not considered newsworthy?

Precisely. The same reason they report the car that crashed on the motorway rather than the thousands of cars that didn't.

I don't have a smart phone and seeing the amount of time my wife and daughter spend on them I won't be getting one anytime soon... I much prefer the phone kiosk down the road

Although I do now have a smart phone, it's still only on a PAYG contract, so I never use it for outgoing calls, except for emergency, and mainly use the texts when on holiday and I cant find a wi fi hot spot, and I try to encourage callers to use my landline, mainly because I rarely carry my mobile around, so if it rings I have to hunt for it.
Am I so unusual?
