I tried to get my hair cut this afternoon. We have 6 hairdressers/barbers locally and all of them wanted me to make an appointment. It only takes about 5 minutes to cut my barnet but none could squeeze me in.

I'll leave it for a couple if weeks and try again. By the time I get me hair done I'll have a comb over just like Bobby Charlton.

President Biden is the latest President to try and do something to control being able to have a firearm in the U S. Good luck to him.
The U S is awash with guns and the chances of bringing that under control is not going to happen any time soon. They seem quite happy blowing their fellow citizens into the next lfe than give up their arms.
A good example is the U K, no citizen is allowed to own a gun without strict rules being imposed upon those that do, but we do have gun crime.
A gun shooting in our country is normally met with big news headline, in the U S it's an everyday occurrence.

The Gun Violence Archive puts the number of gun violence deaths from all causes at 12,395 so far this year in the US, of which 147 were in mass shootings. Last year saw a total of 43.549 deaths, and 610 in mass shootings.

I don't have a problem with guns - they do not kill anyone (unless you hit them over the head with one!). The problem is with bullets - restrict the supply of bullets and the problem starts to go away.

The US Constitution has the "Right to bear arms" - not sure it mentions anything about ammunition.

I believe that Biden will be as much of a disappointment as the previous Presidents.

The Dems have the Presidency and both houses so they are in a position to act should they choose to.

Pre election, Biden pledged to open up the border for immigrants stuck there. Yesterday announced nothing will change.

What he has managed to do is ramp up tension with Russia and China, in best American tradition. Plus announcing his pull out of troops in Afghanistan after Trump announced that last year.

If he did just one thing before he pops his clogs, it should be gun control.
Not that much can be done about the guns already out there but surely it’s time to turn the tap off.

We'd like to think not.
There is a massive difference between policing here and the States due mainly to the huge amount a firearms that are available out there.
Even the most innocuous of misdemeanors are potentially fatal for both the police and the public.

The ironic thing is more cops will need to fall to the gun before the authorities sit up and do something about the inequalities which are the route cause of most gun crime.

I reckon the police over there have been watching too many cowboy films and think it's the wild west they are dealing with. They need to revise their policies on use of guns.

I think we tend to underestimate the gang culture in the US which runs the drugs trade, and the dread that the police must face every time they stop someone who could be in a drug gang. So little wonder that there are frequent police shootings, some of which appear to be of "innocent" victims.
Having said that there has been massively increased knife and now gun crimes here in the UK, all of which similarly seems drug gang connected, and some of this has already lead to similar suspect police shootings.

I think that the difference between the UK and US is that in the UK the police are not routinely armed so that when there is a police shooting it is more targeted at suspected criminal activity whereas in the US, largely due to the gun culture, everyone is considered by the police to be armed and a potential threat.
