Lisa Nandy ?

Is that the MP from Wigan who wishes to abolish the Monarchy ?
She was expressing her democratic opinion….is there a problem with that?

If we ever reach a point where there is a ‘referendum’ on whether to abolish the Monarchy then that question will already have been answered.
I believe that Labour voters are in general terms very loyal to her Maj so would be switched off by the Member for Wigan, therefore abstaining rather than voting in an election.

I read recently that the cost of a monarchy was significantly less than the cost of a presidency, and how many presidents get the same crowds of tourists for their trooping the colour ceremonies.

I believe there is a problem with it.

She is an MP who wishes to serve in Government or even be PM.
It is ‘ Her Majesty’s’ Government and MP’s all swear allegiance,if she doesn’t want a monarchy, don’t work for one.

The difference is that the "Clubbers" is a one off trial where everyone has had a Covid test and will be monitored after the event in a hope to regain some semblance of normal life which would also mean that you will be able to have more than 30 at your funeral

I know that, but how strict I wonder are they with covid testing dates. Are they requesting on the day, the day before, the week before evidence of testing .....A few hundred I might understand, but 3000 is just asking for trouble.

I would have thought it more sensible to test the rule out first with more sensible occasions such as weddings and funerals.

Looking at the pictures 3000 seems to be an over estimate but I do agree with your point that fewer would probably have provided the same data.

I doubt there would be many grannies or over 30's even at that rave. Different age demographic compared to a wedding or a funeral.

Of course it is. But I would have thought it more important to allow more people to attend a wedding that has been planned for ages or pay last respects at a funeral than testing out a rave.

Listening to one of the reports this morning, the procedure was that you bought a ticket, you then went for one of those rapid tests, if the response came back as negative then you got your ticket stamped and you could go in. I got the impression it was all done in real time.

I was saddened to hear one person proclaiming that it it was "the best day of their life" - you wonder what soulless, worthless, unfulfilled lives they must be leading if that is 'the best' of them. Another said she had spent all week picking her outfit - yet she still looked like a tramp on a street corner ... guess I am not down with the young dudes these days.

Why cannot some people be patient?

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-56955105
restaurateur Hugh Osmond called for a faster reopening before 17 May.
So he is now an expert on Covid is he? And if restaurants did open earlier and the result was another lockdown, or restrictions, I wonder who would be the first one whinging that we came out of lockdown too soon?

Watched Andrew Marr this morning interviewing Lisa Nandy and thought how refreshing it was to hear a politician answering his questions without all the side maneuverers you get from most politicians.

P.s I’m done with Theresa, I’m right behind Lisa now  :D
