Nope I didn't. A crony that knows nothing about health, came in and made a statement about how he would lift lockdown early, at the same time one of the government advisors made a statement about not being hasty, then throughout the day Javid changed his message as he was obviously being brought in line. Took him less than 24 hours to make his first u-turn.

It’s gone back to dates, not data.

Javid’s statement to Parliament was very bullish.

Seems bonkers to me to talk about lifting restrictions when the pandemic is growing rapidly again. After 16 months of this we know by now how quickly infections get to large numbers and how many months of hard slog it takes to reduce them again. He should have been telling us how he was going to slow down infections. The vaccine alone is not enough - and vaccine roll out appears to be slowing.

As for ‘there’s no going back’. How can anyone say that in an unpredictable situation with a highly infectious virus on the loose in a global pandemic.

I gave Javid a chance to set out his stall….. he seems to think he’s still Chancellor, not Health. Sadly, there’s every chance of him making this worse than it already is

Now that Javid is being told what to say and think, I suppose we have to wait and see how it pans out. Somehow I don't think it will be much different to Hancock.

Although it looks like they are not applying a lot of brain power. If anything the match should be cancelled.

It will obviously be very much the same as Hancock, albeit without the a*se clutching presumably. It is obvious that anybody starting a new job needs time to come to terms with the finer points but I doubt that Javid, or anybody else for that matter, will be phased by those who simply peer in from the outside hoping to spot an opportunity to snipe at their efforts.

I would have thought that there is a greater risk of them taking infections out of the country than infecting anyone considering how advanced our vaccination rollout.

I can tell you one thing for certain Gill.

We will not, under any circumstances, be going in to another lockdown.

Should HMG announce any further restrictions on trading, we and many other shop keepers will openly defy it.
We've even discussed it at the Chamber of Trade and unanimously agreed.

If people can trip off abroad on holiday and fill sports stadiums then Mrs B has said that she definitely won't be closing her shop again.

Disgraceful but no different to the growing number that think they are above the lockdown laws - they are all vermin.

A valid point, but still shows that they shouldn't be allowed in the country without undergoing same procedure as expected for any other tourist.

Good for you Barney. This nonsense has gone on far too long. Why is everybody so worried about infections? The NHS is safe and most people have been vaccinated so let’s get on with living whilst we can.

From what I understand is that no concern has been shown by the government over their test gatherings in England.
We have the England V Scotland game, and over a 1000 jocks test positive, and they were mingling with the public here. How many did they infect during their time in London.

Saw a Scottish reporter on GB news this morning. When asked why 20,000 had traveled to London he said they wanted to follow their team.! Considering only 2000+ had tickets it was totally irresponsible, they just wanted a p*ss up in London.

The mood music still seems to be that all restrictions will be lifted on 19th July, so it looks like we’ll have to get used to all this when we start ‘living with it’.
