Are there more Hidden Charges Ahead

Unread post by Realist49 »

A new P&O survey seems appears to contain a couple of questions which may be indicitive if changes ahead.

(1) Relates to Shuttle Buses and questioned if this facility was inclusive only for Vantage and Price Promise or was available to Getaway Fares as well.

(2) Relates to the choice of 1st or 2nd sitting evening meals and was couched in similar terms.

In the current economic climate are cruise companies about to add Shuttlebus fares to the Final onboard spending bill as this facility must eat into their margins.

Thoughts from other members would be helpful

I have had the same survey emailed to me but on behalf of Cunard - not sure why I am on their list as we've only cruised with them once and my comments on the questionnaire were not all 5* by any means. It looks as though it may be a survey Carnival are doing on more than just P&O as the questions referred to here are exactly the same ones I had on the Cunard survey.

It appears that current P&O policy is to charge a supplement for anything and everything they can, particularly where Getaway fares are concerned. Smacks rather of that downmarket travel company, Airtours of a few years ago.
It will not be long before all passenger are wearing wrist bands to differentiate Vantage from Getaway, such will be the difference between included services and those charged extra. Will it be much longer before you have to pay to see the entertainment?
BTW they have not sent me this questionnaire; strange really having been such a regular cruiser with P&O

wristbands are the way forward, how else will you be able to tell the pennypinching last minute types, from the monied seasoned traditional cruisers who paid full price for everything?
and how would the crew be able to tell the ones who are less likely to tip or dress up on formal nights?

I do hope the wristbands aren't going to be in garish colours that will clash with my shell suit !

I don't mind as long as mine's a gold one to reflect my status when I eventually get there.

Well, if anybody's worried about paying extras if you book a Getaway deal, you know what to do .....book Vantage.

And if you don't think Vantage is worth booking to get (in your perceived opinion) to get a couple of unpaid extras, then you can't really complain about paying extras on Getaway!

The choice is there, as I always say, you have to select the best choice for you.

(if it's wristbands, please can I have Caribbean blue, such a pretty colour)

Funnily enough, so am I!! The last time I was within 100 points of this coveted goal and they moved them. I presume by the time I get there all the privileges and perks will have disappeared altogether.

Charging for the shuttle bus is not a new thing. When we went to the North Cape with Artemis in 2009, we had to pay for them then.
