Bad idea, someone could catch COVID leaving David open to a lawsuit.

Whilst your trip sounds like a good idea there is not really much to see. The stars may look a bit brighter, but they are still light years away. The earth is there yes, but you could really get a simular experience by hanging an illuminated glode in a big darkened room.
My advice, keep your money in your piggy bank.
Don't worry, be happy

Actions speak louder than words but words that inspire generally make things happen…nice one Boris.

Words and sound bites are cheap, given the verifiable evidence of previous actions I have absolutely no faith in anything other than BS and lip service (and furious patting themselves on the back). But maybe for once I will be pleasantly surprised ... I suspect however that if I am pleasantly surprised then there will be a huge run on prozac and a lot of whining from the population.

And everywhere else. I read somewhere that of the supermarket petrol stations there were about 10 out of 1,700 closed yesterday.

Another case of media sensationalism.

Go electric then you do not have the problem is what I say

Not helped by the usual scaremongering by the media.
If people think that tanker driver shortages can be filled by someone passing their HGV test they are sadly mistaken. Tanker driving is an art like heavy haulage drivers.
In the not so distant past getting a job as a Tanker driver especially with the big companies was dead men’s shoes.
The problem with tankers is that although there are Baffles in the tank the fuel still ‘ sloshes around ‘ making it an unsteady load.
45000 tests cancelled due to COVID.
DVSA on strike, not processing applications ( bloody Unions)
Young men don’t want to be away from home( tramping) they want to be home with mummy putting their tea on the table.
Better pay and conditions, the
Road Haulage industry is partly to blame, non uk drivers brought wages down.

Many years ago I worked with a woman whose husband was a tanker driver and he said that the worst scenario is an artic tanker going downhill with a bend at the bottom.

If we are supposedly short of 100,000 HGV drivers where are all these drivers going to go? The roads/motorways are already full of HGVs so another 100,000 would just bring the road system to a standstill.

I thought the figure was 18000 not 100,000.

I believe that is one of the primary aims of HS2.

David is correct, albeit it is an estimate. Info Googled

100,000 HGV drivers
It is estimated that the UK is short of about 100,000 HGV drivers - with gaps made worse by the pandemic and Brexit.4 hours ago

Plant a seed & watch it grow! Yesterday the media reported problems with supplies of fuel to garages. Today there are long queues reported at garages and the 6pm news has had to mention that there is not a shortage of fuel and supplies are ‘resilient’. Was yesterday’s report an example of a self fulfilling prophecy?
Is it ever acceptable for news stories to be suppressed?
Would suppression have resulted in an easing of the situation?
I only mention this as we are down south, 259 miles from home & the car app informs me that it’s range is 188 miles.

I guess it’s similar to ‘there are plenty of sun beds for all passengers. There is no need to get up early and stake your claim with a towel & paperback.’

Ah but HS2 is to be scrapped in order to pay for "Insulate Britain". As I have said before you solve one problem and in doing so create several others.

Is that not just the route to Leeds?
That could severely hinder the governments 'level up' plans
