Re: caribbean fly cruises
Hi,
We did our first fly cruise March this year and flew out of Manchester.
For us it was worth the upgrade to Premium seating, more leg room, comfy seats, complimentary drinks, except champagne. We flew on a Thomson 767-200, seating was 2-3-2 Premium and 3-3-3 normal. So we also pre booked our seats and if you are interested seats 7a/b are excellent, 2 windows and being on the port side good views of your ship when coming into land at Barbados
If you are taking your car, and do not opt for complimentary parking, can I recommend - Meet & Greet at T2, £49.99 for 14 days (March 2013), same price as Airparks but right opposite T2, so no buses, no waiting and all under cover. At Manchester we had priority check in, fast track lane through security and into the concourse, took 15mins, did look at hand luggage but it was not weighed.

Re: caribbean fly cruises
Hi
We have flown to the Caribbean from Manchester with P&O for the past few years. They usually, but not always, have two flights running one from Thomas Cook and one from Thomson. if they only have the one flight then it will be the Thomas Cook as occasionally the Thomson will cover the likes of Bournemouth or Doncaster etc.
Thomas Cook use A330's with a 3-3-3 seating configuration in economy whereas Thomson use B767's with a 2-3-2 layout as they are ex First Choice aircraft. Leg room is pretty good on both planes and the food and service is pretty well the same. Thomas Cook is usually the 1st flight out at 8AM with Thomson following a couple of hours later. TC often arrives back at 4AM and Thomson at 6AM.
The new drinks policy means that we only got a glass of wine with the meal (and i mean a glass poured from a larger bottle not the small bottles you usually get on a plane). Looking at next years brochure it appears that even this will be dropped so it will be a pay bar only in economy.
P&O's flights dept is pretty good at sorting out requests to change between the two carriers if you wish to swap.

Re: caribbean fly cruises
Not sure about flights from Manchester but we have flown with both Thomas Cook and Thomson from Gatwick, both in Premium seating. For us Thomson is by far the better company. We flew out to Barbados with Thomson in March in Premium seats and it was one of the best charter flights we've had. You are not restricted as to drinks and they were poured out from the bottle, not those silly little bottles and the crew came round regularly to see if someone wanted any more. The service was great, the food was as good as you could expect on a charter flight, we had hot rolls brought round in a basket with dinner. You get the entertainment package included and that means you can watch which film you choose when you want to. Of course you get extra room in the seats - we pre-booked ours and were able to get 4A and 4B window and aisle seats.
On the other hand our last flight with Thomas Cook was nowhere near as good. The plane itself looked old with tatty seats. The staff were not as friendly and efficient as the Thomson staff. The in-flight entertainment was designed so the films were on a loop so you couldn't choose when you saw a film - I saw one film from the middle to the end and then saw the beginning! If you have any choice then go for Thomson. I am waiting to hear about our flight to Bridgetown next March and am hoping it will be with Thomson - if it isn't I'll try to change.
