There are saying Lord Frost has resigned.
Johnson’s not having the best of weeks.
Now who will take on the easiest deal in history

If reports are true that, among other things, he disagreed with the Plan B measures, good riddance.

Some will gloat but personally I'm not bothered. Somebody else will do the job. Manah for the media I suppose and it will make a change from hearing about last year's parties.

Re: Current Affairs
Nadine Dorries has been booted off a Tory WhatsApp group by MP Steve Baker after defending ‘hero’ Boris Johnson during an exchange over Lord Frost’s resignation as Brexit minister yesterday.
The messages were sent in a group called Clean Global Brexit made up of around 100 Conservative MPs show after a week widely seen as the worst in Mr Johnson’s premiership.
……
I know it’s Pantomime season but this whole Boris/Frost saga if getting embarrassing…for the party’s sake Boris needs to follow Frost’s lead and resign.

Re: Current Affairs
Boris has delivered on what I wanted from him and I never expected he would lead us into the next election anyway. It's a pity the epidemic came so soon after the election since it has detracted from other aspects of the manifesto promised in the election.
At the moment he is between a rock and a hard place but I do wonder at the advice he is receiving or is it a case of whether he is listening to that advice or not.

Boris has botched up virtually everything he has touched - at least America got rid of their version of Boris at the beginning of the year ... we have been dumb enough to keep ours this long. On the plus side, in 2021, his breeding program has resulted in a 14.5% increase in end product.Onelife wrote: 19 Dec 2021, 09:38I know it’s Pantomime season but this whole Boris/Frost saga if getting embarrassing…for the party’s sake Boris needs to follow Frost’s lead and resign.

Re: Current Affairs
Good to see that Javid has u-turned from his 'it is irreversible, there is no going back' message that he was adamant about when he took over from Hancock. I hope we don't have to go into lockdown but it is good to hear that it has not been ruled out ... one could almost say that in the last week the government has been reprogramming the public to be ready for another planned lockdown.
Sounds suspiciously like the standard government script in times of adversity
Sir Richard Wharton: “In stage one, we say nothing is going to happen.”
Sir Humphrey Appleby: “Stage two, we say something may be about to happen, but we should do nothing about it.”
Sir Richard Wharton: “In stage three, we say that maybe we should do something about it, but there’s nothing we can do.”
Sir Humphrey Appleby: “Stage four, we say maybe there was something we could have done, but it’s too late now.”

Who knows Foxy…but the quality of a leader is measured by their ability to determine good advice from bad advice and then act upon it? Boris’s actions are neither here or there and retrospective in many cases which leaves the country vulnerable to further indecisiveness.oldbluefox wrote: 19 Dec 2021, 10:22Boris has delivered on what I wanted from him and I never expected he would lead us into the next election anyway. Re: Current Affairs
Germany's ban on travel from the UK smacks, as France's did, of spite and politics rather than being health related.
Yes their reported daily Covid rate is lower than ours, by about 30%. But based doing doing only one fifth of the tests we do. Test more, find more. Their death rate is currently more than three times as high as ours. That suggests strongly they have a much bigger problem than us. Logically if anything we should be banning them from coming here. But given Omicron is already transmitting within the communities in both countries that would probably be equally pointless.
Of course I could suggest that if France and Germany consider such travel bans to be useful in the pandemic they should close the border between their countries. But the EU rules wouldn't allow that! So they make political capital by targeting us instead. Muppets.

Germany and France acting in unison, seems suspicious, my guess would be they sense we might have a weakness in the NI protocol talks now that Frost has resigned.Mervyn and Trish wrote: 19 Dec 2021, 16:05Germany's ban on travel from the UK smacks, as France's did, of spite and politics rather than being health related.

Re: Current Affairs
I see the British media are whipping the idiotic into a frenzy of indignation with their half/misleading stories about France and Germany placing travel restrictions from the UK. The reality is that they are placing travel restrictions from all non-EU countries ... no different to any other country, including the UK, that uses travel restrictions when they believe they are needed. But why let facts get in the way of a good rant from headline readers.

Be fair Gill, he may just have been trying to organise the roughing up of a reporter for daring to print stories about partying at number 10 ... wouldn't be the first time.Gill W wrote: 19 Dec 2021, 21:33Meanwhile, a photo emerges of Johnson at a party in May 2020.

Re: Current Affairs
Funny that in interviews French and German politicians quote the UK specifically. And a quick Google search provides several authoritative references that the current restrictios on the UK do not apply to all non EU countries as you claim.Kendhni wrote: 19 Dec 2021, 21:59I see the British media are whipping the idiotic into a frenzy of indignation with their half/misleading stories about France and Germany placing travel restrictions from the UK.
