Who has access to your personal data on board
Who has access to your personal data on board and what can they access - Name, address, date of birth, cabin number. Can any officer access this ? The Hotel department ? The Safety Officer ?

Officially or unofficially?…Where There's a Will, There's a Way…I would have thought.

The short answer is that nobody on here can give you a definitive answer but probably very few will have access to all of your data - it will be on a needs only basis

What is your concern?Bubble wrote: 05 Jan 2022, 23:10Who has access to your personal data on board and what can they access - Name, address, date of birth, cabin number. Can any officer access this ? The Hotel department ? The Safety Officer ?![]()
Different people will have different information including your flight details, passport number, next of kin, phone numbers, insurance details, medical requirements etc. Cabin stewards and waiters (in traditional dining) will usually know your name and cabin number; possibly even know your DOB (they would look pretty silly singing happy birthday on the wrong day). Waiters may also know about certain medical conditions (to avoid allergens etc.).

Unless you booked directly with the Cruise Line your TA will potentially have the most comprehensive set of information regarding your good self ... is this also a concern ?

If they do then it will be replaced by something similar - there is no way in this day and age that personal data can go unregulated.barney wrote: 06 Jan 2022, 10:48I believe that this government are looking at scrapping the current GDPR regulations.

Thanks for your reply everyone. My concern was people on the crew accessing information and I will also travel with a high security person .

Some of the crew will know everything you tell them. Others will know what they need to know or what they learn (maybe by overhearing a conversation etc.).Bubble wrote: 06 Jan 2022, 18:41Thanks for your reply everyone. I am not sure what you mean by a "high security person" but many people with high profiles and security needs have taken cruises. On our first cruise there was a family of 4 that had their own security team (3-4 people) around them ... I have no idea who the family was but guessed it may have been an American governor or senator.
Besides that my wife knows my bank balance and has access to my credit cards ... that makes her a high security risk to me.

Re: Who has access to your personal data on board
During part of a World Cruise on Aurora we were under potential threat from Somalian Pirates. Over the horizon, we imagined, were the Royal Navy and the order to mobilise them would have been issued by the serving Commodore who along with his good lady were seated at our table for three days. All very discreet, not a bodyguard in sight. This was security of the highest order of course.
