Rightly or wrongly, electricity and warmth are considered as a derived human rights in this country and we do measure poverty based on their affordability.david63 wrote: 12 Jan 2022, 08:48Why does it always have to be the Government's fault/problem when energy prices rise? Do we have an outcry when they fall.

Try Moby, he has shed full...as does Stephen.Onelife wrote: 12 Jan 2022, 08:36I would imagine the heat will be turned on the Government when the 1-2 yearly fixed tariffs periods come to an end, it will be then that fuel poverty really starts to hit home.
Hopefully most will be able to ride the next couple of months out, after which, fuel demands should be in less demand and prices should then level themselves out a bit?
I’m off out to search for some kindling.

In other news Novax admits he was out and about after his positive Covid test and that his agent made a "human errpr" on his Oz immigration form, saying he hadn't travelled anywhere else in the run up to his trip there, when in fact he had. It seems his positive test is a handy excuse when he needs an exemption from vaccination but he considers it irrelevant at other times. He really is rather cavalier about his attitude to Covid and the safety of others. #ChuckHimOut
(p.s. before the Boris Bashers and Burley lovers leap in this is a comment about Novax and does not indicate a view either way on other indiscretions).

Re: Current Affairs
We now have stories hitting the media of the harrowing times that some people were going through losing loved ones, allowed to die with no family able to say goodbye at the time of the party.
While the stories are sad, they are being used to make readers more angry, where as the the focus should surely be on did the alleged party break rules in force at the time.
If you remember we were having an exceptionally hot spring, and whilst people were in hospital fighting for their lives, dying alone, family members passing away in care homes and no visitors allowed to see them, funerals marriages not allowed, how many people were in their gardens having BBQs, drinks and typically enjoying themselves legally or otherwise, life was continuing.
We were still enjoying ourselves as all around us some were in unimaginable pain..
So should the focus be on, was the law broken as it was applied to the the people who were also caught breaking the law at this time.
Are the sad stories fogging the, was a law broken at number ten.?

I’m pretty sure that if you invited 30 neighbours to your private garden for drinks at that time, old bill would have been round like a shot.Ray B wrote: 12 Jan 2022, 11:29We now have stories hitting the media of the harrowing times that some people were going through losing loved ones, allowed to die with no family able to say goodbye at the time of the party.

Why?
Because it was against the law at the time.

Perhaps he is missing the point - having correct information on an immigration form is his responsibility alone, did he not sign it to say it was true?Mervyn and Trish wrote: 12 Jan 2022, 11:13In other news Novax admits he was out and about after his positive Covid test and that his agent made a "human error" on his Oz immigration form

Agree on the above. It's the same for those of us who use/used an accountant to return a tax form, they always state, that it is you who are responsible for the information you gave, is correct.Mervyn and Trish wrote: 12 Jan 2022, 13:14Quite so. The outcome will be that ' there was a mis-understanding ' but technically Boris was unknowingly guilty of encouraging a time honored tradition within the Civil Service groupings at No 10 ... ish.Ray B wrote: 12 Jan 2022, 13:41What will be the outcome of the enquiry maybe?

I think Stephen's story above is more interesting. A few drinks in the garden or a bit of under age sex by a senior member of the Royal Family (both allegedly of course).

It might be worth checking Merv but I don’t think the girl was underage in the Prince Andrew scandal (alleged) just a bit young for a man of his age.Mervyn and Trish wrote: 12 Jan 2022, 15:09I think Stephen's story above is more interesting. You would have been tearing your hair out if you had been alive when Gladstone was PM. But of course you would not have known then because the media were part of the establishment then.barney wrote: 12 Jan 2022, 15:18It might be worth checking Merv but I don’t think the girl was underage in the Prince Andrew scandal (alleged) just a bit young for a man of his age.Mervyn and Trish wrote: 12 Jan 2022, 15:09I think Stephen's story above is more interesting.
