I think the point Gill was making was to question why the PM is relaxing the rules at a time when his baby daughter has just recovered from a serious bout of covid - I really don't see that as callous, spiteful or unsympathetic; having read many of Gill's posts, her first objective seems to be the safety of all during a pandemic. I may well not agree with all of her views, as she probably disagrees with most of mine, but that's what a forum should be about. What I do see as pretty unpleasant is personal attacks such as these, in particular Manoverboard's very hurtful comment, horribly reminiscent of Andrea Leadsome's to Theresa May.

As Gill says, you've gone too far. Most disappointing.

For weeks, even months, Mervyn has been casting out jibes and digs - I can only assume he persists in doing this in the hope of hooking a response, so that he can have a go at me.

He seems to have taken his opportunity this afternoon, by twisting my post in a very nasty way, and making some particularly unpleasant comments to me. It seems to have had the desired effect - the people I would expect have piled in as a response - and in a very gleeful way. I can almost hear the cries of ‘gotcha’.

To all those who piled in - You are no doubt enjoying yourselves at my expense, which says a lot about you, considering the personal nature of the comments made.

Rest assured, I will not be driven away by the behaviour of a few individuals.

I can't find anything on line more recent than 4th to 7th January reports from France. Reference Ken?

The story has been updated and is now talking about the BA.2 variant that was first detected on 6th Dec - so not as new as the initial report suggested (which is good news). Not expected to be any worse than current Omicron and the vaccines are expected to be effective against it.

Having lost a young daughter many years ago I obviously read Gills post in a different way to you.

In any event I would never use a child to try to make a point in a politically related Topic and especially not one that had reportedly been struck by Covid.

I also thought that it would have been gracious if Gill had realised that she may have made a misjudgment and apologised for referencing the child.

As the main focus is now on Omicron and now, maybe a mutation of it, I have wondered what has happened to the original covid 19. Is it wiped out, laying low, lurking, ready to strike. No mention of it is made today, so what has happened to it.?

The point I was making was that Johnson of all people should know how serious Covid is, after he himself was in hospital with it and his 6 week old daughter catching it - with those two factors in mind, I can’t understand why he’s so keen to throw off all restrictions.

I can’t apologise for mentioning his daughter, as it was central to to point I was making about his personal experience with Covid.

I couldn't see the correlation between Boris making a decision at national level and his baby having Covid. As I said before was there a need to mention his child at all? I suggest not.
