For flights I prefer a N95/KN95 mask or a paper mask rather than my super fancy multi layered heavy duty cotton mask that I normally wear.
Someone also suggested a silk mask ... I have no idea what they are like though.
I read that some Easyjet passengers were denied boarding because the airline's staff were insisting om FFP2 standard masks and would not accept cheaper lower standard disposable ones or fabric ones. None were available for sale at the airport so their trip was over.

Their website says "The mask you wear should be FFP2 (or equivalent) certified, surgical or cloth. Scarves, face visors or masks with valves are not permitted."

I don't know if this was a mis-interpretation of their rules (my reading of the website statement is it might be) or is, or is likely, to become a more widespread policy, but as a precaution we have bought some of the FFP2 standard specifically for flight use.
In that case EasyJet should provide masks for their passengers, like Virgin do.

Can I just remind you all that there are two features on this board that can prevent the antagonism that there seems to be at the moment.

These two are:
1. Report a post that you find offensive.
2. If you do not want to read another member's post then, from your UCP, make them a "Foe" and you will not see any of their posts.

Hopefully this may bring harmony back to the board. It is time to carry on in the spirit of what is a friendly cruise forum.
Don't worry, be happy

Yes I'd agree, though one is a budget airline and the other isn't. However it's a moot point if you find yourself waving bye bye to your flight so we'll go prepared.

Thanks David, with the 'foe' option do I have to put in Stephen's surname or will Stephen suffice? :D

The story has been updated and is now talking about the BA.2 variant that was first detected on 6th Dec - so not as new as the initial report suggested (which is good news). Not expected to be any worse than current Omicron and the vaccines are expected to be effective against it.
The story.is now in the Mirror with a number of cases in the UK but, as you say, little further information about it. Listed as a variant under investigation rather than a variant of concern.

I’ve been on this forum long enough to know what is a dig and what amounts to goading, both have been used frequently where one individual is concerned and it’s not fair. There isn’t a rule book that state how individuals should phrase their opinions /statements, whatever, but there has always been an acceptance that we all have different writing styles and this I feel is how it should remain and accepted no matter who posts it.
Hear hear! Well said, Keith.

I presume the foe option only prevents you from viewing their posts but still allows the "foe" to view yours. Hence they could make all manner of comments about you of which you would be unaware.
Am I understanding correctly?

Thanks David. 👍
I think I prefer to know if somebody is including me in their comments or making comments about me. On many occasions I choose to ignore certain comments but that is sometimes later interpreted as approval of an opinion.
I prefer to know who is saying what and respond accordingly.

It really should not be necessary but there is a third option ... ' Stricter Moderation '.

In this instance I was as a Member offended by the post involving a child to make a cheap political point, perhaps as a Moderator I should have deleted it. Problem for me was that it's deletion would have been influenced by my feelings rather than by the Forum Rules.
Keep smiling, it's good for your well being

Being a long served unofficial official backseat moderator I think I deserve a chance at the top job…. I would do away with red pen warnings (David has given me far too many) I would do away with deleting Posts (Mob has deleted far too many of mine) and I will ban you at the first opportunity.

Btw…Foxy said he would do me a good reference

If these stories are found to be true then this behaviour is totally against the law. Such alleged blackmail and threats have no place in any 21st century democracy ... it is a national embarrassment, to any right thinking person ... even for one of the most corrupt governments I have had the displeasure to live under.

I would like to think that the police will look into this and, if these illegal activities are found to be true, bring the perpetrators to justice and sentence them to time in one of her majesties holiday camps. However the police are in the pay of these puppet masters so I have little faith that justice will be done.
