I saw an argument that said it would be pointless fracking for gas as we'd only export it anyway. That seems to lack imagination. I'd go ahead with fracking but make it a condition of approval that the companies only sold it to the UK market and at a fixed and affordable price agreed with the government before they started work. We have 50 plus years supply down there. Why are we importing anyway?

They've already been trying to sell me oak logs but at those prices I would want to use them to make furniture rather than putting them on a fire. Oak burns longer but it can be a bu^^er to light.

We experienced an earthquake in St Anne's while on holiday in 1970, and the locals said it happened every few years, so possibly fracking had nothing to do with the one that happened while trials were underway.

But seriously many who lived in a coal mining area put up for years with tremors and subsidence. Don't recall that stopping us exploiting our natural resources.

The secret is to start off with wood that burns easily then once you have a good glowing bed then add the oak.

I currently burn copper beech which burns easily from the start.

I have a substantial oak dining table. Unfortunately it is Russian Oak so due to sanctions I'm unable to let you have it.

Russia has used cyber attacks as a part of its attack on Ukraine ... I am guessing that rest of the world is attacking Russia, yet we have not really heard of anything. More effort should be made to bring down Russian communications, banking etc.

Ken, it’s just been announced that Germany has agreed ‘in principle’ that they are willing to implement some SWIFT measures…. hopefully others will do the same.

I'm fairly sure that if we wanted to we could do it at a minutes notice - but as in all of these scenarios we do not know, and probably do not want to know, what is going on in the background and the reasoning why we do/do not do some things.

I don't thing there is any "probably" about it - all countries cyber agencies are full of convicted, now reformed, hackers whose whole purpose in life is to be able to hack into whatever, whenever.
