Re: Current Affairs
Not much chance of that on here Merv, there will still be some claiming it’s a cover up. No doubt we’ll still hear ‘ It’s the Lying’ !!

Re: Current Affairs
Well was partygate worth half a million of police funds, certainly the fines won't cover the cost. I am sure the Boris bashers will say it was fully justified, but if it does not result in him losing his job, which was why they wanted the enquiry in the first place, just what benefits did we get for our money?

So, there we have it, the new meaning for ‘GATHERING’ is a good old-fashioned Westminster p*ss up...Cheers!!

Re: Current Affairs
If there are 200-300 work at No 10 (although I'm not sure if the investigation didn't include other sites) and 50 summonses were issued with some getting more than one summons it would seem the partying wasn't as extensive as some would have us believe. Not acceptable but hardly a Westminster p*as up.

Alcohol in the Workplace…
“Alcohol should not be consumed by staff during working hours. Staff are encouraged not to drink during breaks as this may impair performance. It is accepted that there will be celebratory occasions (e.g. staff departure, Christmas) when staff will wish to drink”
gov.uk
Sod it, Let them celebrate….They deserve it for all their hard work during covid restrictions.

Not knowing what the circumstances were it's difficult to comment. Whatever they were it was not acceptable but whether they were leaving drinks or anything else we may never know.

The reports also said the majority fined were Civil Servants. Boris isn't even their line manager and it seems he wasn't even in Downing Street when some of the gatherings took place. And those investigated weren't all in Downing Street, they were across Whitehall. Isn't it time to drop the it's all Boris's fault mantra?

For all those that are hoping that 'partygate' is going away. It ain't we haven't had Sue Gray's report yet or the parliamentary enquiry. Johnson the cheating, lying, law breaking, bar steward could still get his cummupence.

New City status, I think there are more deserving towns for the title than Milton Keynes.

You can almost taste the disappointment that the police didn't come up with more than they did.

I lived in Bletchley, which is now part of Milton Keynes, in the 50s, when Milton Keynes was a little village. With no concrete cows or roundabouts!

I’ve only been to MK’s once and that was back in the early seventies, at that time my impression of it was that it was quite futuristic in its design.
