BTW by elections don't matter.
Happy to be of service.
And interested to note that home counties grandmothers think it's okay to encourage children who probably have no political views of their own to boo people. I hadn't spotted that. Very mature.

Just getting my Two Penn'orths worth in. Strange how protesters who ran in front of of the troops marching down the Mall to Buckingham Palace and out on the track at the Epson Derby were soon dragged away.
Why the hell did they not do the same for the M25 protesters.
Better late than never.

Moby, you know this as a fact. There are other doors to enter the Guildhall or maybe they were not on the list.Manoverboard wrote: 04 Jun 2022, 16:06Interesting that the Sussexes were the only Royals, second tier or otherwise, who failed to turn up at the Guildhall reception for her Maj. Re: Current Affairs
Just another way of dismissing anything I say by calling me names. This from the man who gets uptight about the term ‘straw man’, when everyone knows that it’s actually a term to describe an argument, not a person.oldbluefox wrote: 04 Jun 2022, 17:23You are more naive than I thought if you believe those boos will influence the Tory MPs. In the real world it doesn't work like that but you are obviously convinced it does.![]()
And you are making incorrect assumptions about what I think, yet again

I thought the Platinum Party last night was a fantastic success, just a shame Tampon Charlie came alone with all that Mama and Papa dribble.

Re: Current Affairs
Not calling names Gill but merely replying to your post. If that is what you believe as a consequence of a minority outside St Paul's who chose to boo then it seems pretty naive to me.Gill W wrote: 03 Jun 2022, 17:09
If he's lost the support of the flag waving royalists, then it looks like the game's up for Boris
Tell me do you believe all royalists will be Tory supporters?
Do you believe all those who booed were representative of all royalists?
I repeat the only people who will determine Boris's fate will be the members of parliament of his party. Flag waving royalists who boo will be irrelevant in this process. This has nothing to do with burying heads in the sand or defending the indefensible. I don't defend Boris and one day he will go. That depends on his MPs but it is more likely the outcome of the bye elections and feedback from the constituencies will play a greater role in his dismissal than the jeering of the crowd outside St Paul's.

Security would have determined the one single entrance but of course I have no idea if an invitation was extended to them albeit every other Royal is reported as having received one. Pics of the event will presumably show that the lesser Royals were all, bar one notable exception, present and correct.Ray B wrote: 04 Jun 2022, 20:50Moby, you know this as a fact. Re: Current Affairs
Let's hope so, Warring brothers, especially during the Queen's lifetime, is a very sad thing.
As an aside .... I would have thought that anybody who boos anybody at all at an event that celebrates our loyal Queen is either a Republican else is brain dead.

Slightly sobering to think that with the ages of the various future monarchs and me I'm unlikely to see another Royal Jubilee in my lifetime.
And if Nadine Dories gets her way it'll be the last show like that unless she assumes Netflix will organise the next one. Though actually she's so thick she probably doesn't realise the whole thing was a BBC production.

The Queen's tea party with Paddington was brilliant and completely unexpected, similar to her meeting with James Bond during the Olympics opening ceremony in 2012. Even after 70 years, she can still surprise us.
I think your questions seem to illustrate that you can only see the world in black and white. As such, I can't be bothered to give a full and nuanced reply. so I'll just give simple reply to both questions. You don't have to repeat that that the only people who will decide his fate are his own party. I know this, and acknowledged this in post 15719. I think you don't actually read my posts, but just insert what you want to believe that I've said
I originally made a simple comment, which you have used to create a narrative about me. You will no doubt not like me analysing the way you think, but that is what you have done to me.

I do wonder why you think everything is about you Gill. You put forward a point of view on here, which most disagree with, and then when we point out any deficiencies in the argument, you take exception as though we are criticising you, when in fact we are simply stating why we believe the point of view is flawed, not you.Gill W wrote: 05 Jun 2022, 12:31The Queen's tea party with Paddington was brilliant and completely unexpected, similar to her meeting with James Bond during the Olympics opening ceremony in 2012. When I make a simple comment, and get a response telling me I’m naive and then presumes to tell me what I’m thinking, that’s not ‘pointing out a deficiency in my argument’ that’s making it about me. There’s three people on here, including you, that always make it personal.
No, you are once again incorrect. I said that I wasn’t going to say anymore. There’s nothing to stop anybody else carrying on the discussion.

Can't be bothered to respond to somebody who thinks Boris's situation is jeopardised by a few people outside St Paul's booing him. If that's not naive then I don't know what is.
