Anyone else noticed that you can now/still access the P&O forum via a back door, although why we would want to I don't know.

Try this link.

Do you think they might be considering re-opening the P&O forum?

Or might it be some technical cock-up/security breach?

It's been back a couple of days John although nothing seems to have changed, I wonder if P&O even realise it can be accessed as no announcement has been made which is what you would expect if the plan is/was to bring the forum back.

I don't know anything about IT but I would hazard a guess someone has flicked a switch and forgotten to flick it back again ( would that be how it works ?? )

It is not uncommon to be able to access parts of a site via a "back door" - it is just a question of finding them.

When I took a look via the link above I was getting a licence error so I doubt that there is anything imminent regarding its return as if there were then I would have expected all of the previous data to have been removed.

I do, however, wonder why if it was causing so many problems (which apparently still exist) that it is still there

That is truly wierd - not least that it is apparently still possible to post on it as some people seem to have done. Perhaps the performance issue related to the volume of traffic rather than a basic software fault. In which case perhaps they just need to dig in their pockets and buy a bigger server?

Well I for one don't want them to bring it back because if they do David might just decide to close this one

tbh I don't see what the attraction is with the P&O forum, we have many of the contributing members from there here and hopefully those that aren't will find us eventually and we actually have a forum that works ( which in the 6 years or so I have been a member of P&O it never did or not very well ) we have good moderation so we know we will not get invaded by trolls ...what more can we want !!!

It looks a bit of a mess! I will stick to this one, much nicer, cleaner and easy to manage. Don't close it down David, will you. Jay

David, I do hope you are able to keep this site going. You have done an incredible job setting it up and it is so easy to manoeuvre around.
I only use my I Phone and I had terrible problems accessing the P&O site, on here I have no problems at all. I use Taptalk which gives me instant access.

DQ and Jay have got it right this is the best.

Just been over to take a look at the old site and what a load of old cobblers it is. It's best they give it a happy pill and let it go quietly.

I'm in but it's a total waste-of-space, especially compared to this whizzy version ! Best consigned to history methinks

I managed to get in and log on - not sure how - and even managed to post - not sure what on earth is going on! Please don't get rid of this forum - it's so much better than the Community site ever was - even at it's best - oh did it ever have a best? I'm sure once one of the tech men wakes up and sees what's going on it will vanish but it's very odd. You can write a message on top of the license notice - but you can't see what you're typing - wow!

I liked it for keeping in contact with home when on board. Also people looking at the P & O site may have gone onto P & O forum had it still been there but know nothing about this site.

Well, I for one think that P&O were really mean and petty minded not to allow e-mails to be shipped to the missing Members regarding the whereabouts of this site.

I know, it could even be counter-productive for them, espeically as their own feeble attempt is now even crappier than ever

Tried to old on but although I was recognised, " Community " didn't work. So I have only seen the new site via the back door on here, and I cant log on from there. Won't bother to try again. Jay

Managed to log on and post. Managed to download all my blogs (As my Ipad had lost them)
The forum must still be integrated with the other P&O systems, as my Peninsular points have been updated with the cruise we got off last week, plus the two cruises we booked on board for 2014 are there also.
