Rome City Pass – Worth it or a Rip-off?

Unread post by RichiCruis »

Hey everyone,

I’m looking for feedback on the Rome City Pass, specifically the Turbopass. Is it really worth it? The perks like skip-the-line access and discounts seem tempting, but I’m wondering if the cost is justified. Has anyone used it for places like the Colosseum or the Vatican? I’m on the fence, so any advice would be appreciated!

Thanks!

May be a good idea if staying in Rome, but for a ships visit I've no idea. Skipping the line does look tempting.
Don't worry, be happy

It’s a few years since we did Rome from Civitaveccia(sp?) and we were a bit miffed at queuing for ages at the forum to get tickets & then once having the tickets having to join a queue to get in. Now I’m not sure of the cost of the CityPass but …yes, I’ve eventually got to the point: We were told that we could have bought tickets first the Forum or Colosseum etc at any official outlet (away from the busy attraction) and have avoided having to stand in the initial long queue. It may be worth looking to see if it is still possible to do that.
Incidentally, the Pantheon is worth a visit if you have time. V impressive. It used to be free but they were thinking about charging for entry.

Ok’ it’s a good few years back but when we last visited the Colosseum, we used one of the tour guides that were situated just outside of the entrance…we were fast tracked past the pay as you go queues.

There is only so much you can see and do in the time allocated (if on a Cruise) so it might be better to pay for the things you don’t want to miss, rather than pay for what you will miss. That being said, I don’t think there will be much in it if you were to cram in three paid tours/entrance fees.

If you can manage to squirrel away some breakfast toast, sausages for a midday snack (P’s I wouldn’t include any fried eggs as they can make quite a mess of your shorts) ;) …then you’ll be quid’s in seeing what they charge in the eateries.

Didn't realise Keith, we must have been on the same cruise. It must have been you we watched at the breakfast buffet, stuffing all manner of rolls, meats, butter and fruit into your oversized pockets.

It stems from my impoverished upbringing Ray…but having made it in life, what with my country estate, etc, I’m always willing to pass on any good tips on how to get there. ;)

There seem to be several reviews online that seem to think that it the Turbopass is not really worth the money
