Caribbean Cocktails & Local Dishes | Bar Experience on Arvia

Unread post by Official Autopost »

On turnaround days in Barbados this winter, sip the spirit of Barbados at the onboard bars.

Mixologist Shane McClean will be crafting a signature cocktail while Bajan chefs host live food demos with local dishes and stories of local life and flavours.

No need to book, just head to the designated bar to join the fun!

The spirit of Barbados is brewed just around to the left of the port as you exit.
Very moreish.🥃

The only port I'll be in tomorrow is Dover. Do they have it?

No complaints so far, but give me time.

Arrived at port at 12.10. On board by 12.40. Drinks served by 12.50.

Deffo on the right one and very nice, but don't quote me on that in case I need to sue later.

An interesting first for us, we didn't need a pilot leaving Dover because our Captain used to be a Dover pilot himself, so he's allowed to drive himself.

Overall impression of Dover as a cruise port is very good. A ball ache to get here via the M25 but it's smaller and friendlier than Southampton (the cruise bit, not the ferry bit up the road). CPS provide parking but again it's a much smaller operation. I think the bloke who checked us in is sticking our car in his garage for two weeks. You can have chauffeured transfer but that would have meant being collected at silly o'clock and would have been shared so we took the free parking alternative.

And we stayed overnight at a Premier Inn 8 mins from the port.

Even though you are out of the 75 mile car transfer area Merv you can pay a bit more for a private car, we do. It’s around £110 extra return and worth it. The thought of sharing and having to make polite conversation the whole trip is not for us.

It's a lot more than that for us. It's £2.75 per mile and we're 250! But we're happy to drive the day before anyway. I'm thinking I should start a dedicated thread to review this cruise before the Modplods red card me for going off topic!

Just worked out how much it would cost us from up here in Cumbria. I reckon I would need to take out a mortgage..

Or accept the shared transport or as we did drive yourself. 😃
