Fancy having a go on a slide at sea.

Unread post by Ray B »

These big water slides now found on the new generation of huge cruise ships take you over the decks and wizz around out over the sea before landing back into a pool.
Sounds great fun, you can see the sliders pass though a clear acrylic glass tube, part of the slide. Fancy having a go, you may want to think again.
The mega ship, Royal Caribbean's Icon of the Seas has one such slide, and as a passenger was enjoying himself sliding around the bends, upon going though the clear acrylic tube, a piece broke away. Unfortunately the passenger was badly injured and was lucky it wasn't a big hole, where you don't want to think about what could have happened.
David may be happy now he didn't try the slide on his last cruise.

No thanks. I try and avoid Butlins at sea cruises.

Butlins is good value if you get a nice chalet with a toilet.

I remember that dreadful stuff. When I worked for a few years in the Scientific Civil Service we had it in our toilets. It had "Property of Her Majesty's Government" printed on every sheet. As if anyone would have been daft enough to nick it!

It didn't come as a surprise, the passenger injured on the slide has instructed lawyers to sue Royal Caribbean .
