Re: upgrade lottery
Thanks for the replies.....of course it would all depend on the bid I submit ( I'm thinking of maybe £221 pp ( £ 442 total ) enough to just beat anyone bidding the minimum they suggest but it might still get turned down.
The other thing that might stop me bidding is the friends we are meeting onboard...They would probably get upset by the fact we are moving to a different area of the ship. Can't get hold of them at the moment so will have to check to see what they say.

Re: upgrade lottery
Well, was thinking about going for the bid but have now been a bit put off by reading reports that they do vary in size and some are just a bit bigger than the large balcony cabins...I'm pretty sure if I bid I wouldn't be getting those extra large suites they show. I'm not that bothered about the butler service and a bar of chocolate & a bottle of sparkling wine/champagne doesn't really win me over either.
The breakfast that CarolF & David mention in Epicurean is something that could sway me.
We all arrive on the same plane so priority boarding won't affect us that much and I'm not not bothered about a short wait to get onboard. Mrs P isn't that bothered, just happy to be going on a cruise again

I can’t see how they can make bacon, sausage, eggs. fried bread, tomatoes and a good dollop of baked beans look much different to that what you can get on any floating café.
Best stick to the breakfast that you know you will be getting than gamble on something you may not choose to experience.

Ignore OL. The breakfast is great. And you don't have to fight with the riff raff to get it.

Re: upgrade lottery
To a point I would agree with OL that the actual food is not that much different but the service and ambience are between the two are poles apart. No queuing/waiting to get a table, or told to come back later, much calmer, same table every day with waiters that know what you like, etc.

Not wishing to cause an argument,
but could it be that those who experience the refined service and ambiance of Breakfast in the Epicurean are the very ones who moan about the standards dropping in the other dining establishments?
