What a culinary idea, purple gravy and white truffles instead of baby onions! I tend to be more traditional as far as Christmas decorations are concerned. There seems to be a tendency t use silver and frosting for decorations this year. I saw decorations being installed in the Four Seasons Hotel in Park Lane the other night in a documentary and there it looked like a snowy, icy forest on entering the hotel with the largest snowman you've ever seen made of three huge silver balls, I thought it was quite a scary figure but the hotel manager certainly liked it. I do prefer some red and gold in there to create a warm atmosphere but I'm probably old fashioned. Looking at lights on houses, who on earth thinks that blue lights have anything to do with Christmas? I live in a village where all the properties on the main street, houses and shops have a Christmas tree at an angle on their wall. I think it's this weekend that the trees are all going up. It was started years ago by a shop owner who invested in putting up brackets on the walls at no cost to the house owner and the house owner then paid a small amount for a tree, supplied at cost by a local business, with lights on and then a small group of villagers put them up. It has since grown where almost the whole village has a tree on the front of their house or shop. It's magical to see and attracts lots of people, which is what the original shop owner intended, particularly as at Christmas he sold wonderful chocolates!
