Ventura Feb 27th sailing
Hi my wife and I are sailing on Ventura on Feb 27th does anyone have any must do trips or recommendations for things to do? Is it best to book excursions or can you get taxies and do your own thing? We have never visited any of the ports so any advice would be gratefully received.
Many thanks Alan

Probably a good idea to tell us the ports you will be visiting. It will depend on where you are going as to whether you can do your own thing independently or whether, as is the case in some ports, it's best to take a ship's excursion. It may also depend on how adventurous you are. Some people, me among them, prefer a ship's excursion as I like to know that I'll be back on the ship on time and not risk the ship leaving without me. The ship will always wait for a returning coach if it's on a ship's excursion it will not wait if people are on an independent trip. However, you will find many people, maybe the majority on here will tell you that for many years they have done all their excursions independently with absolutely no problems.
So let us know the itinerary and I'm sure people will be happy to give advice.

Hi Alan, if I'm correct your first port is La Coruna and from memory it's easy to walk into town and have a look round without an excursion, just do your research and make sure you get back to the ship at least an hour before the time they say you should be back ( just to be safe ) Your next port is Bermuda....Lovely island and you're staying overnight. I think you need transportation if you want to look round Hamilton as it's about 50 mins from the cruise port. It's a long time since I was last there so I can't really give you advice as things change.
You also have an overnight in that lovely city New Orleans, From memory you can walk to the famous French Quarter from the cruise port in about 20 minutes. You might want to research trips on one of the old paddle steamers etc. I think you can pretty much do things independently but others on here might suggest an excursion.
CaroleF was spot on with her advice to you
Your other ports Roatan Island Isla Tropicale -Coxan Hole, Belize City, Freeport Bahamas, Miami, Cozumel, Port Canaveral & Azores perhaps someone else can jump in and give you suggestions
