Re: Sport of Kings
Yes an excellent couple of winners there
I know Onelife ain't too interested in 2yr old flat runners but....
I'm taking a slight interest in the big 2yr old races at St Cloud today but obviously not having a bet.
Pierre Bonnard who O'Brien thinks might make a Derby horse should get his third win in a row but I'm also interested to see how Shosholoza will do after winning his only race in Ireland by 5 lengths. This son of Australia seems of interest.
Criterium Internatinoal (Group 1)at 12:30 has Puerto Rico ...is he really as good as they think ?
Now its time for the jump season

Hi Pompey, as you say Iām not that interested in the French racingā¦I find it a bit like measuring a piece of wood without a ruler. That being said, you do your homework on these types of races so whilst I donāt bet I will watch with interest.

Hi Pompey, just watched the two French horses win their respective races but would I want to be backing them for the Derby or 2000 guineas next year? They couldnāt do more than win but with most of the other horses less than 5 lengths behind the winners Iām not so sure you have found a classic winner yet...

Hi Onelife, Even though it's mainly the NH season just had to bring two amazing flat races to your attention
These are the races at Sha Ting Hong Kong run early this morning....
In the Longines Hong Kong Sprint ( 06:50 ) what a brilliant sprinter Ka Ying Rising has turned out to be
Now has 16 wins on the trot
Worlds best sprinter so they say....I wonder if he'll come & race over here.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sBJ8J1qdH8I
Then in the 08:40 Hong Kong Cup Romantic Warrior won for the 4th year in a row
Also Sosie won the 06:10 Hong Kong Vase beating Giavellotto (4th in the Arc Sosie was 3rd) & Goliath was 3rd

Hi Pompey, I wouldnāt bet against Ka Ying being the worldās best sprinter but I doubt heāll ever find his way over here or indeed Americaā¦. unless of course the owners some of our best sprinters of both here and America can hype them up as being the worlds best sprinters then we could entice the owners of Ka Ying over for a race.
When you think of some of the American sprinters that have crossed the Atlantic, and put our top-notch sprinters in their place it would be a match race on par with that of Seabiscuit and War Admiral, albeit at a different distanceā¦.bring it on.

No, I didn't reaIise Overlooked was running today and looks like he might be favourite or Von Krolock perhaps
Hannah Dring has got talent...her last 3 rides on Isle of Wolves have all been wins
Isn't this something like 24th go at actually winning
Who knows...let's hope you get lucky

Re: Sport of Kings
Just a quick flat race update....The Doncaster Lincoln comes in March
2 horses that Onelife seems to have an interest in are entered Sean & Epictetus
Now whilst Sean seems to have an anti-post price of 40/1.....I notice that you can get a great price on Epictetus of 100/1 however I have a feeling that price will drop if Epictetus wins or comes 2nd when he races at Wolverhampton on Friday
So I'm wondering if I should have a fun anti-post bet on him ahead of this race just in case he does well....he's never been in the Lincoln before, If I can get a NRNB ( Non Runner No bet ) on him then why not especially with 100/1 odds.
According to the stats it's unlikely he will win but at those odds I'll be happy if he gets a place.
There's also a 4yr old entered I'm quite interested in

Hi Pompey, firstly, you wonāt get NRNB this early but donāt let that stop you having a speculative Ā£1ew on both of them. Iāve just checked anti-post prices with Betfred and as yet there are no prices available. What I can say for sure is that you should get a run for your money should they remain declared for the race as both will make the cut at the weights.Portsmouth wrote: 26 Jan 2026, 19:48Just a quick flat race update....The Doncaster Lincoln comes in March

Right, Iām off to look at the chances of Epictetus.
I'm also keeping an eye on Daily Present which has been declared to run Sat Lepardstowm

Also ....I hope you were riding just on your estate not a public road at 33mph as otherwise you have just posted on the forum how you are a naughty lawbreaker

Re: Sport of Kings
Good afternoon Pompey, you are correct that UK laws stipulate that ebike assist has a cut off speed of 15.5 mph but like you say there is no limit to how fast you can go other than staying within UK speed limits for the road you are travelling along.
I had made my way up to Henry Daly stables which required a very stiff uphill climb of about a mile, but as they say āwhat goes up, must come downā and it was on the long downhill stretch that I attained the adrenaline punching 33.4 mphā¦.yesā it was pushing both me and the bike to our limits but exhilarating nevertheless. So how did I come to eat grass? Having reached the bottom of the downhill section there were a couple of bends (by this time had slowed down to about 4mph) however, the second of the two bends was very tight and blind so I stayed close to the left avoiding oncoming traffic⦠coming out of the bed there was an unavoidable pot hole/rut in the road which took my front wheel sending me into the steep bank (at this point I would just like to say that there were no tears just a few painful groans of Oh Sh*t why canāt I breathe)...Anyhow it wasnāt long before I caught my breath and scrambled back to my feet and was delighted to see that the Yellow Peril hadnāt sustained any life threatening injuriesā¦this was pleasing because I still had 6 miles to ride before getting home.
On entering the estate I started thinking to myself, what will my wife say?ā¦it was at that point I burst into uncontrollable floods of tears.
Anyone got a tissue?

Re: Sport of Kings
Onelifeās Saturday Bankers.
Probably the best chance of my 4 selections āThe Kalooki Kidā 2.20 Musselburgh would appear to be reasonably weighted for the race he won last year. Will have to show marked improvement on recent runs but his trainer knows how to get one right on the day.
Ā£5 win (taken 5/1)
One which I backed last time out āMinella Missileā 3.10 Sandown will have to have everything fall right if he is to make the frame, especially having been upped in grade. That being said this horse should be race fit and another good run is not out of the question.
£5 win £2 place (taken 14/1)
The trainer of āKitaabā Newcastle 5.55 has two in this race āThe Green Manā being the other, and the strong fav for the race, however, I do think āKitaabā is worth a little EW bet having only run 7 days ago after a long lay off.
£3 win £2 place (current price 20/1)
Moving to Leopardstown āDaily Presentā 2.25 will need to show considerable improvement having been beaten 31 lengths on his last run (the winner of that race runs in the same race)
If the race is run to suit (with ground conditions likely to suit) then this horse does have the ability to win a race such as this⦠and at 50/1 he is my speculative bet.
£4 win £1 place (taken 50/1)
50p lucky 15
