aft cabins

What are your views on AFT cabins, we are considering a cruise on my favourite ship (Arcadia of course). Is it very noisy from the engines?

We have had aft corner cabins on Arcadia on B, D and E decks on many occasions, and were we booking Arcadia again, that is exactly what we'd book.

We found - and I am talking about well over 100 nights in one of these cabins - that it is a little noisier in one on E deck, but not enough to prevent hearing normal conversation, and on the other decks, not at all. There can be a little vibration while berthing, but again we have not found this to be an ussue. Our personal favourite is D deck, despite being completely shaded by above, these have the largest cabins and the largest balconies.

Never stayed in them but, from what I have read, they seem to be considered prime cabins. I may be getting my ships mixed up but was there not something about a beam that affected these cabins (or was that Azura/Ventua)

Thank you, I have had a look at my photos of Arcadia and can't see any beams although there is something sticking up from the balcony of E186. Have just checked and all the afts have gone on D deck, so now thinking about E deck so your views are especially helpful Gill.

I can vouch there is no problem with beams on arcadia aft cabins. We had one on C deck. Werent worried by noise and the view is lovely. Go for it and have a lovely cruise.

The only issue that we had when we had one of these cabins was with a bit of vibration where the glasses on the shelf were "rattling" all the time. This was resolved by putting one of the paper coaster mats under each of the glasses and peace ensued.

I agree with Gill - aft on D deck, huge balcony. We always have aft cabins if we can. The only noise we have ever experience from the engines is the thrusters that are used when the ship is docking - and that's only for a few minutes. The other noise you hear is the wake of the ship - magic. Even on Azura/Ventura we have had aft cabins - no beam if you choose the right cabins. Oceana's aft suites and minisuites are about the largest cabins in the P&O fleet. We love them.

We've had aft on E deck on Arcadia to the Canaries

Overall, it was excellent.
The balcony was a very good size and we used it a lot, for breakfast and often lunch as well.

The best bit was watching each port disappear into the distance while sipping a glass of champers

There was a bit of noise and vibration, particularly when they needed to get a lick on to make up for lost time due to fog.
But, I'd have one again in a heartbeat

I have booked an aft cabin on Arcadia for my cruise next week, never had one before at the aft end but after reading about these cabins on the old P and O community web site decided if I could book one I would. Even though booked early only E deck was available so that's what I booked. Am really looking forward to sitting on the balcony looking at the wake sipping a glass of wine.

E deck is half covered, half full sun so you get the best of all worlds

We had A160 on our first cruise and we have the same room booked for next year. The balconies can hold 20+ people with ease as they are massive and wrap around the sides as well. There were minor niggles but we uttery loved it.

We did enjoy our aft cabin on E deck, we had cabin 191 which was bang in the middle. Enjoyed using the balcony for the sun and when it became to hot it was nice to have the shade later on. Good size of balcony and cabin. Would book an aft cabin again, but would be slightly wary as our bathroom had plumbling problems and the floor was flooded twice by the toilet. We had a very calm crossing of the bay of biscay and did not experience any juddering. No noticable noise from the cabins above either.

Glad you enjoyed your aft cabin. We are booked in and aft cabin on Oceana for my 60th birthday in Jan 2015. We were in the cabin next door for our Silver WA on out 1st cruise in 2007. Can't wait to get back on her again. Will have to make do with Aurora forward cabin to USA & Canada in Sept this year.

We were in cabin 171 on b deck realy very good beatifull vieuw and. A lot of space .this year we Will go for aft as well They are the best. Cabins of the ship and booked again b deck cabin 165 .

Had an aft cabinon ventura one we removed the matal cost hangers from the rail it was quiet lol
Well worth it for the view
