Is that me you're talking about, Jenni?

Why don't P&O just say they are not bringing back the forum, then everybody knows where they stand?

I wonder two things:

1. Does anyone from P&O read this forum and if so is that how they became aware that there was a "back door" to their forum?

2. Have P&O decided that with this forum they do not need to reinstate theirs?

I expect that people from P&O do read this forum, I expect they read as many cruising forums as they can,,to find out customer opinion.

But I don't think their business decision on whether or not to have a forum on their site would rest on the existence of this or any other forum.

Hey Ho

. . . . but I had lots of friends on tother confection that are missing from this site

Of course the stability and functions are far superior here, and I am grateful for David and Co. for
providing this forum, albeit on a "stop gap" bases

My ferrets Gordon, Philip and Flora enjoy joining in the fun :D

But you have lots of friends of this site, you really don't need a list to tell you who your friends are :? I actually thought the list was a bit of a waste of time .. if someone only had 6 friends and someone else had 36 does that mean they were any less popular - I don't think so !!!

We all lubs your ferrets as we do you so stop being a silly old sod

I liked it too Graham and I miss some of the people who no longer post. C'est La vie. I agree Jo the friends list was indeed pointless and meant nothing :D

When logged onto the defunct P&O site ' one ' was greeted with a Licence Agreement message.

If P&O had stopped paying the Licence Fee would it not follow that the Company who owns the Licence would know how many postings had been made over a given period of time and that as a consequence of those postings would have requested payment from P&O ... hence the recent closure.

Just a thought.

I would be more inclined to think that it is a case of P&O not having renewed (probably at quite some cost) the annual licence to use the software rather than any action by the "software police"

So originally a part of their cost containment exercise ( cutbacks ) rather than a performance related issue ?

If that IS the situation then there seems to be little liklihood of a re-birth of P&O's site any time soon.

 for some ... yet, for others it will be a

I think this site is excellent (bow, scrape etc) but the sad thing is that we all met on the P&O site and came here when it died. I joined the old forum because I came across it on the P&O site and it became a source of amusement and useful info at times too. Sadly there is no obvious way that newbies to P&O will find this one, so they will be denied the opportunity we all had to get here and all they'll find instead in the rather inferior Faceache.

Sadly I don’t think the P&O forum will come back. I agree with others that P&O should have the courtesy to let their customers know one way or another. In particular I think it’s remiss not to inform those customers who kept their forum going for x number of years (I don’t know how many) being a relative newbie. It was probably the best cruise forum on the internet with cruise reports, helpful advice and information. It was a fun place to be (most of the time) It really shows what little real regard P&O have for it’s customers IMO.
I do however think this forum is indeed a very good alternative

Don't be greedy

Am I the only one that isn't missing the old forum ?? I never liked the new format, I always felt P&O sold us short with it :o ... it was the nice people that held it together without them I think it would have folded much sooner.
