Re: Last One to Post Wins
which reminds me of a comment I read on a junior officer's annual appraisal a while back: This man is not so much a leader of men, more a follower of women"
Either way, I still win!

I don't expect the promotion board would have been particularly impressed by that one!

Re: Last One to Post Wins
I am too near retirement to have to worry about promotion boards. Appraisals are still done, and I have just had my last 5 years of CPD records reviewed and evaluated by my professional body, who seem quite happy with my efforts.

hey ho slackers
just spent a very productive afternoon doing manly things such as putting up shelves and tool racks in the mancave (garage)
we can now get one of the cars in there and have got rid of a load more cardboard boxes
happy days

I am in the lucky position of being second-in-command in the organisation I work for - so usually write my own - but I used to hate them. Don't you find they tell you that you are doing everything wonderful BUT you should also be doing something else as well

Re: Last One to Post Wins
what I object to with ours is that we have to say a) how we think we are doing performance-wise (give examples) and b) how well we get on with our colleagues (give examples).
It's not for me to say how I'm doing (who is going to 'fess up and admit they're crap at their job?) or how well I get on with my colleagues. Nor (as happened a couple of years back) should I be told that I stepped out of line a few months ago but the details can't be remembered so I don't know what to avoid doing in future....

Re: Last One to Post Wins
My boss has all but given up with this type of stuuf, at an appraisal a couple of years ago, I told him I was a genius and superb at my job and if there are any negatives in this appraisal, it was his fault coz he should have discussed them sooner, not wait for a once a year chat
and he had to provide examples of areas where I was under perfoirming
quickest appraisal ever
mind you the bugger had me the year after in a 3 hour marathon appraisal

Re: Last One to Post Wins
In my previous job, my line manager had decided that until the divisional head gave him an appraisal, he wasn't going to bother doing any for the other staff.

Should it ever occur, such an event is likely to be accompanied by the sound of much flapping and oinking
