Glad you had a good weekend. Do you happen to know how long that exhibition is running? I've been to Pompeii, but that was many moons ago, and very little of Herculaneum had been excavated at that time. It would have been on my list had we been able to go on E304 back in March, but as you know, we went to the Canaries instead.

It finishes on 29 September. You can pre-order tickets on line (costs around £15 each). I think you can buy tickets on the day, but you may not be able to get in straight away - they let groups in in 10-minute batches. It takes about 90 minutes to go round. The Lady C was particularly interested having been to Pompei on E304, I was particularly interested because I had to take my mother to Sorrento....!

I would just say, though, that a couple of the exhibits are, in my view, unsuitable for children to look at - eg, the very graphic sculpture of Pan having carnival knowledge of a goat....

Don't worry, my younger one is 25! When I went to Pompeii, there were some exhibits only men were allowed to see, which I imagine would have been something similar. (I was only 14 at the time, so not included)
