Ah, but that's art and not some poor bird kept in unnatural captivity for the entertainment of the uninformed

Re: Last One to Post Wins
I came across this on the internet:
One plump barn owl carcass
1 carrot, sliced
1 onion, sliced
1 stick celery, chopped
bouquet garni
bunch of parsley
1 pint of beef stock
Port
Lemon juice
Recipe:
Roast the carcass in a hot oven, 400 C (Gas Mark 6), for 20 minutes. Pour a little of the fat into a heavy saucepan and fry the vegetables to a golden brown. Put in the carcass; add the boiling meat stock and the bouquet garni.
Simmer gently for 2 hours with the lid on. Then strain into a clean saucepan and remove the meat from the bones. Put this in the blender with the slightly reduced stock.
Return to the pan and season with port, lemon juice, salt and pepper. Serve with freshly-made croutons.

Sounds lovely. Perhaps we can lobby Carnival to get it on the corporate menu for the ships ?!

Nothing serious, thanks - but a lot goes through your mind when you get a call at that time of the morning.

quite so - I dislike phone calls after 9pm, especially with an elderly mother in poor health two hours drive away.

Give me a break....since Saturday, I have been done for speeding, Mrs C's iron has blown up and our allotment sheds have all been broken into and robbed. I need a little compassion

Cubie! You poor old furball. Setting aside the iron (buy a new one) and the speeding (observe the highway code) did the robbing buggers take much?

Speaking of rural crime, Norfolk police have arrested a man who hid inside a combine harvester after being disturbed when he was trying sto steal it.qbman1 wrote:Give me a break....since Saturday, I have been done for speeding, Mrs C's iron has blown up and our allotment sheds have all been broken into and robbed. I believe the items taken were a stack of newspapers a kettle, an old flea-bitten armchair and a pipe.
