Re: Last One to Post Wins
Thank you all for your sympathy !
New iron duly bought and I am thinking of challenging the speeding fine as the limit may be unlawful (a rural area with no street lights)
The allotment raid was clearly a planned and organised event, not just some yobbos chancing their arm. The communal store was broken into and all the club's mowers, strimmers and rotovators taken before they torched the shed (presumably to destroy any DNA evidence ?). Every individual shed was also forced open and any items of real value (power tools, etc.) taken. Our shed had the lock cut off by fairly hefty bolt cutters so there was no other damage, unlike some which were just forced open. The buggers had clearly been through everything but we had nothing taken. We have a lot of my late father's old tools which have high sentimental value but little intrinsic value so I guess you could say we were lucky.

I'm glad they didn't get your dad's tools Cubie. Awful about the rest though.

Sorry to hear about your break-in Cubie. Hopefully the police will nail the blighters. Problem then, though, will the courts punish them or just pat them on the heads and ask terribly nicely if they wouldn't mind awfull not doing it again....

The police weren't terribly interested, of course. They said they would send the community officer round at some point. They are probably too busy trying to do me for speeding again !

Tell me about it. I was done for speeding in 2003 I would have taken it with better grace if the local constabulary had shown the same enthusiasm when dealing with a burglary we suffered some 6 months earlier!

Well, what happened was the policemen in the van tracked him down and tried to make him pay £80 for a public order offence that caused 'harrassment, alarm or distress'. Paul politely pointed out that they may have chosen the wrong career and tore it up

Re: Last One to Post Wins
I am realistic enough to know that there is little or no chance of them finding the cuplrits but they could at least go through the motions and perhaps offer to drive past on occasion to give a higher profile just in case the theiving bastards are thinking of having another go at it !

If 'harrassment, alarm or distress' was an offence, you would get done on here every dayHK phooey wrote:Well, what happened was the policemen in the van tracked him down and tried to make him pay £80 for a public order offence that caused 'harrassment, alarm or distress'. The police on the Isle of Wight were brilliant when I had a burglar walk into my bedroom. Spotter plane, dogs and CID within half an hour.

At Easter 2008 the North Wales Police set up a speed camera camoflaged in a horsebox, which they parked in a layby on the A470 near Llanrwst. (This was when speed cameras were supposed to be clearly visible) Anyhow, some local person (allegedly) rang the RSPCA and complained to them that there were some pigs shut in a horsebox on the A470. If true, I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall when the RSPCA arrived!

Do some ironing and put Ratatouille on the DVD, so you can learn to distinguish between class acts like Remi and yobbos like your mate Roland
