perhaps you could try switching of the TV once in while and trying to read a book ?
I seem to remember they did easy books for novices and illiterates try one of them...you never know

Crossroads really was even more mind numbing than the other soaps. The trouble is, since it folded the others seem to have been 'dumbed down' to fill the void left by its passing.
