[quote="emjay45"]Your meal sounds delicious Frank. My OH is doing one of his favourites tonight chicken breasts stuffed with stilton and wrapped with bacon. Hmm probably a bit fattening.

Hi Emjay,

Any reference to cheese, especially "stilton" is banned on this thread, but just before I issue you with a cheesy warning did the stilton dribble down your face while tucking into that crispy bacon?...Oh sod it, I’m going to find out for myself...

Please don't tell the others what I'm about to do :shh:

Don't think I will have lost much this week. It was sons birthday this week so there was a visit to Pizza Hut involved. Just as a matter of interest I wonder if ice cold champagne will work as well as water

SS I hadn't noticed any entries from you on the board this week and I was starting to think you had wasted away completely. I bet you've been out running or swimming in the floods to lose that fantastic amount - well done!

As a newcomer to this thread - this is what happened to me. I have been meaning to try to lose weight for ages - you know start with good intentions for a few days and then it all goes haywire. About a month ago I had what I think was a warning that my gall bladder was playing up so it prompted me to get serious about losing weight and watching what I ate - low fat. So, what I've been doing is to have either a small bowl of porridge or some museli for breakfast. Then at lunch I've had a bowl of fresh fruit - melon, grapes, mango etc. M&S do wonderful pots of fruit that do me two lunches. Then I have an apple, sliced and then a low fat yoghurt with some museli on top. Then in the evening as I have to cook for my husband I've tried to stick to sensible things - nothing fried, no chips, had a lot of fish. The only alcohol I've had is a couple of glasses of champagne on my husband's birthday when the whole family came to Sunday lunch.

I've found it reasonably easy once I got started - possibly because I had the concern about gall bladder which has settled completely, fingers crossed. I have gone down a dress size and have had to take in some trousers. We are on Azura in three weeks which might sound a real problem but I think I might find it easier as I can choose what to have in the evening without worrying about feeding my husband - who incidentally could eat mountains of cream and never put on so much as a pound. I can have lots of fresh fruit for breakfast, with some yoghurt or museli, salad for lunch and something sensible for dinner. I might have some of the clear soups - I've been looking at old menus and there are certainly lots of things I could eat in the evening. Will keep off puddings, unless it's fresh fruit salad. I think I might be tempted by some prosecco but I seem to have gone off white and red wine. Oh, and no bread rolls at the beginning of the meal!

I do feel a lot better for having lost what I have - haven't weighed myself so don't know how much. Had a routine GP visit last week and my bp was the lowest it's been for ages - GP most impressed. We're in Dorset for the weekend and had dinner in a local pub. I had some seafood pasta which didn't seem too bad as far as calories go - wine in the sauce, not cream. So I'll keep trying and will try very hard on Azura to keep it going. I don't want to put the weight back on, and will try to lose some more. I'll let you know.

Yes well done Maureen ( I'm not jealous well perhaps a little :shifty: ) Well done all of you. Carole pleased keep me informed and I will try to follow your diet too. I'm weighing in tomorrow but have a feeling I won't have lost anything this week. Too many fattening meals and too much vino.

Good morning pinchers,

Well, lve had three atempts at weighing myself this morning hoping that there was a glitch with my scales but in the end l've had to conced that l am a fat pig and deserve no sympathy from my fellow pinchers. Not wishing to make excuses but my down fall had somthing to do with the stilton cheese and crispy bacon that emjay mentioned earlier in the week, although the pack of jelly babies won't have helped, neither will the two cheese, tomato and onion rolls l had last night.

Hey but listern, l havn't put anything on so that will put me in a good position to reach that elusive 1 stone weight loss l'm hoping to achive by next weeks weight in...just three pounds to go.

I'll be back later to annouce the slimmer of the week celery stick award.

Well done to all who have managed to weigh in a little lighter than you did last week, and a special well done to Maureen on reaching her target weight

Down 1.8lbs on the week. We have walked miles this morning, then spoiled it all by cooking pork fillet in mustard crumb with mushroom fried rice, then having chocolate pudding with Kellys dairy ice cream....totally blown it I fear...but delicious. We had another walk after lunch, and now have to starve until breakfast tomorrow.

Lots of beach huts severely damaged by the storm, one or two completely upside down, and half way across the prom.

Well done on the weight loss, Frank. Hopefully what you have eaten today will have disappeared by next weigh-in. We would have loved to have gone walking but had to repair broken fences but still good exercise.

Have just seen Meridian News and they were showing pictures of mangled beach huts at Bournemouth and along the coast. They also showed pictures of the troops and equipment being landed at Seaclose in Newport, IW which is going to be used to help evacuate homeowners from The Undercliff at Ventnor. It looks dreadful. Seaclose Park is not far from where we live and we wondered why the Sea Kings and Chinooks were to-ing and fro-ing across our bungalow. I didn't see the land rovers hanging down from the helicopters - I bet that was a sight to see.

Maureen.

It certainly was a sight to see, Maureen, I was at my mum's for the weekend and heard the familiar "wocka wocka" of the Chinook flying overhead, to return a few minutes later with two Landrovers suspended underneath. It came back inland again a short while later and then returned right over the house - we couldn't see it but it was very loud. Then a Puma flew over. Didn't see any Sea Kings though.

You are probably right about the name of the helicopter being a Puma - I'm not very up on names and it certainly looked like dark green and I have just looked up a Puma and that looks right. I have always envied the lovely homes along the Undercliff but not any longer - how awful for them.

Yes, it was dark green - the RAF's Sea Kings are yellow. I've flown in both types, so am very familiar with their silhouettes

That part of the island is not called 'the landslip' for nothing. It has been gradually slipping away for many years now. I also wonder how much of the military road will be left after this winter.

I got on the scales again this morning and was quite relieved to have no increase from yesterday's indulgence. Rotary Club ladies night tomorrow and a three course meal, we may find some damage on Wednesday morning. I know they suggest we shouldn't, but Sue and I find that a daily weigh in keeps us motivated. Really wish the weather would improve so that our favourite walks were a bit less muddy.
