In Cabin TVs - HDMI port?

Unread post by BilgeMonster »

Apologies if this has been asked before.

Does anyone know if the in cabin TVs have a hdmi port that you can plug in to - in the evenings we might like to watch a movie and I now have one of those mini media players that you can put movies on but it only has a hdmi connection.

Thanks!

I cannot state categorically about this but due to the age of the majority of the TVs on the ships I very much doubt it as HDMI was not around when the TVs were built.

Perhaps if you were to say which ship you are going on someone may be able to give you a more reliable answer.

Azura later on in the year. Been on her before and it's one of those that is interactive tv but never had a look behind the tv to see what was there. I'm not even sure if the remote will let you select alternative inputs.

Every ship is having its televisions upgraded to flatscreen LCDs during their respective refits. I can't say whether they have HDMI inputs but even if the remote has limited functions there are normally buttons on the back that perform all the TV functions. I'm sure P&O would know the answer

Auroro didn't when we cruised in December. We did exactly the same thing, took a downloaded film to watch one evening - couldn't do it. My husband did manage to watch it on his Ipad though.

The library usually has DVD players and a selection of DVDs which they are happy to lend you.

I think the latest interactive tvs are in practice wired up to work as computer terminals rather than normal tvs, so a lot of what you might expect on your home tv isn't there or doesn't function.

Also most of them are pretty rigidly mounted to stop them crashing about the cabin if if gets choppy, so it's not easy to see or access what's round the back.

But why bother? It's a cruise. You can watch DVDs and films at home, without paying a few grand for the pleasure!

Ah, now I understand. You won't find those movies in the library. ;)
