I think I am going to book my tours tonight. The Golden Circle looks amazing so it's either we book that and don't book any other tours or we go for a cheaper one in Reykjavik and then we can also do a tour in Akureyri or we stick with the one. If this was your decision what would you do go with cheaper tours or go all out on one excellent tour. We will only book with P&O direct as I have a fear of getting back to the ship on time.

From Isafjordur there is a great tour to Vigur Island, a family owmed and run private nature reserve. The boat trip out there is exhilarating and you spend the rest of the afternoon dodging the arctic terns !!

Really, it's better than I make it sound....!

BB -Isafjordur is new to us so couldn't advise on that one but qbman's suggestion sounds good. I would struggle to choose between the Golden Circle Tour from Reykjavik or the Jewels of the North from Akureyri as I enjoyed them both. However, I have just asked my husband what he would do if he could only choose one and he opted for the Golden Circle Tour.

Good luck with making your decisions.

Thank you the price of the golden circle is really off putting but if it is as good as I keep hearing I don't want to miss it. I really like the sound of the ring of fire tour but haven't heard any feedback about it.

When we went to book an obstructed view cabin on Saturday, the travel agent was able to show us a photo of some cabins and the obstruction so we could judge if we wanted that one. We looked at a few and chose one which was approx 40% obstructed as opposed to some totally blocked or 50% to 60% blocked. If you google' what are the obstructed view cabins like on Arcadia' it will bring up a list of the cabins and you can click on the one you want to see and it downloads a photo.

I've kept the download and keep looking at it - how sad is that but it brings the holiday a bit closer.

You think that's sad lol I have looked at our last holiday pictures and worked out our balcony from the outside and zoomed in to have a look at it. I have an app on my phone telling me 116 days till we go (eek) and I have spent the last 2 hours reading about tours till my head spins. I genuinely think I am going to have to shell out the difference and do the golden circle as it sounds amazing but that does mean we will just be DIY nosing about towns at the other ports. Shame as I wanted to do Jewels of the north too.

BB - possibly too late to tell you this but I think that if you book now you will have to pay now but if you wait until you are on board to book then it is added to your on board account and you could use your OBC for it. However, as The Golden Circle tour is very popular there is always the risk it will be booked up quickly. It's a risk you take but they try to fit as many people as possible on their chosen tours.

Another member of the forum might be able to confirm this is what happens - if not P&O would be able to confirm this or the question and answer section on the P&O website might help.

I would point out that if you leave it until you are on board then, assuming there are still places available, the tour will be more expensive.

Still not picked as it is just too confusing I will read at the weekend my head is spinning at the moment. The golden circle sounds like the to do tour but if I do it I cant do any tours in any other port which is why im dithering.

Haha I think I am already skint Dark knight but I can certainly see myself being more skint after this cruise.

Hello there fellow sailors.

OH (David) and I (Tina) have booked to go on this cruise.

Very late booking 2 weeks ago. But very happy to have got most of what we wanted. Just dining option to sort but nothing major.

After reading about Golden Circle tour, I am definitely going to book it.

Look forward to meeting some or all of you like minded folks.

Tina

Hello Geminisquirrel, pleased to see some more people signing up for this cruise. We were beginning to think the Arcadia would be half empty. There is another thread headed '28 days to go Wowsers' started by Bellybee which you might also find interesting and might have some useful information for you.

Let's hope we have better weather than we are getting here but best to prepare for all sorts.

we booked 2 tours with the cruise line and 1 independently, we would have booked more independently but the time in port did not allow us to take the private tours, which are much longer and much cheaper
so we booked the Golden Circle tour via Thomson and another trip with them, when we are in the fjords and the "try to spot a whale tour" locally

Thank you. I will go and find '28 days to go Wowsers' and have a look.

We have just booked our tours, Golden Circle, Jewels of the North and Island of Vagar.

Give us a day in between to recover.

Tina
