Golden Circle Tour Iceland
We are on the Arcadia in June and have finally booked the Golden Circle tour from Reykjavik. I am hoping it is going to be good. Can anyone who has done this tell me how it was and where you ate/what type of food?

Re: Golden Circle Tour Iceland
Hi, we did the Golden Circle tour in July 2012' and it was excellent, highly recommended.
The lunch was at Geysir, just over the road from seeing the geyser. I think it was at a hotel. We were all seated at large tables, and the food was served to us at the tables. I THINK it was salmon, but I can't really remember.

Sounds as though we had the same to eat as Gill W when we went on this trip in June 2012 - salmon and before that we had soup. Can't remember if we had a dessert but it was all quite edible. As soon as we finished we went straight across to look at Strokkur, the large geysir. The trip started at 8.30 am and finished at 4.30 pm and there were adequate toilet stops and always very clean toilets. We were most impressed with the toilets at the Thingvellir National Park. We always think of them if ever we have to use the disgusting public toilets in our town. How come toilets miles out from town can be kept so clean and the ones in our town which should be checked regularly can be so awful. Yuk!Gill W wrote:Hi, we did the Golden Circle tour in July 2012' and it was excellent, highly recommended.

If you can stretch to another excursion then I would recommend the Jewels of the North in Akureyri where we saw the bubbling hot mud springs.

Gill - I couldn't believe how little protection there was around some of the bubbling mud springs - Health and Safety in Britain would have it so roped off you wouldn't get anywhere near them. You can get so close. It almost reminded me of a horror film. I don't think I would want to live in Iceland knowing how fragile the earth's crust is there. Mind you, it is certainly one of those excursions I'm glad I did. It isn't something you get to see every day.Gill W wrote:Yes, we did that one too, and it was another really good excursion. Thanks everyone I don't think we can stretch to Jewels of the North unless we do a last minute booking on board but at least I have one good tour booked. Just to be clear is it cooked salmon I don't do raw fish lol.

We are in Iceland in June, P&O -Arcadia aswell, can't wait, have booked all our trips with P&O. Swimming in the 'blue lagoon is on my bucket list. Hoping to have time to do our own thing in the afternoon, time allowing!

Glad to see someone else is joining us on this cruise. I see that PO are now offering a choice of either OBC or MS vouchers with this cruise. When we booked a select fare a few weeks ago it was OBC only, then it became MS vouchers only, now there is a choice of either of these. It makes you wonder whether bookings are very slow.Mrs Pugwash wrote:We are in Iceland in June, P&O -Arcadia aswell, can't wait, have booked all our trips with P&O. Anyway, it is a cruise we are happy to do for a second time because it is such an interesting place.

I don't think you will regret that decision - I know it isn't cheap but we were glad we did it.bellybee wrote:We booked the jewels of the north now as well lol thought gotta see as much as we can I am not likely to return to Iceland yay
