A Big Thank You.......

....to all of you who have read (and said they enjoyed) my P&O cruise blogs over the years as, thanks to your encouragement, I have finally finished the book I've been writing since we first cruised in 2003.

It has been without doubt the hardest thing I have ever done, and this last 18 months especially, writing, editing and finally finishing it just seemed to take over my life. But, this last weekend, I did finally finish it and send it off to the printers.

I'm not sure I'll ever publish it (gets very personal in places) beyond the initial copies I'm getting printed off for close family and friends, but it's a sense of achievement I've not experienced in a long time. Depending on their reaction I might rethink things but, for the moment, I am just so chuffed to have completed it.

So thank you to everyone that ever followed and commented on my reports/blogs, especially those of you that may remember me from the old P&O forum. I'm not exaggerating when I say that, without your encouragement, I'm pretty sure it would have remained unfinished for ever.

P.s. Oh, and sadly the book "The Diary of Dennis the Menace" featured in the latest edition of Our World magazine isn't me, but instead some Jonny come lately character celebrating 75 years of his comic !

As for publishing it - have you considered going down the Kindle route? I don't know what is involved, or how you go about it, but I have seen it done for books like yours (not that I have seen your book)

Yes, I've used the amazon/createspace functions to get this far as they had all the templates already set up. If anyone else is writing their own book, it's Very easy to use and eventually publish as both hard and electronic/kindle copies - just shout if you need any help.

Well done, DTM, a fine achievement. On the assumption that it is a good read, and I'm sure it will be for anyone interested in cruising, it would be a shame not to publish it if you can. Almost all my reading seems to be via Kindle these days so that would be a good option but for you, I'd make an exception and buy a hard copy if necessary, especially a signed one

What title did you decide upon, or have you not yet made up your mind?

My friend is married to a vicar and she has written a book about her experiences. It's really funny - I believe she had it printed privately and now goes around to groups like Mothers Union, Women's Institute etc. and sells her books to them. Perhaps you could think about lecturing on a ship DTM and you know do that CD thing and have the books to sell - just a thought
