new brochere... pricing?

Unread post by gilly88 »

picked up a copy of the new brochere today at ta. where are all the prices :o..... you have to go online for them thats where they are :x
its such a pain, as i have to compare about four or five different cruises for a family cabin to work out the 3/4 th person discounts. this is important to us as it makes a big difference as to which cruise we will eventually chose. why can they not put the prices in the book or will they be for ever changing them so that people will not be able to compare? :shifty: maybe i m just being too suspious in my old age..
regards gilly.

I think you're probably right in your assumption they'll be changing them a lot, so any detailed price breakdown they put in the brochure would be out of date very quickly. Long gone are the days when the price quoted was static from the day of brochure launch until the day of sailing. Today it's all "fluid pricing" and everyone is at it.

But fluid pricing has been in for a few years and cruises have often gone up within a couple of days of brochure release but that has never stopped putting prices in for every cabin grade in the past. Unless I am wrong if I wanted to book like I have done in the past I would have browsed the brochure prior to release date and then pre registered after comparing different cruises and cabin grades. As the brochure is now the only way I can find out prices is on Friday morning to phone P&O and ask for every cruise and cabin grade so I can compare while on the phone. Sorry but that aint going to happen for one I am not at present interested in booking with P&O next year and if I do it will only be if they release a cheap Getaway price and two I would be on the phone comparing prices for cabin grades on every cruise and it would cost me a fortune in phone calls.

I contacted my online travel agent who gave me a quote.

Whether it's still going to be the same price if I book is anyone's guess!

Exactly Gill.

As I have said what is available now is at least transparent. You have 3 prices thus:-

1. Early ie from 5th April with 5% off for everyone, 5% off for past passengers and if you choose the appropriate cruise 5% off for a peninsular cruise.

2. Vantage with all the benefits

3. Getaway with no benefits and the extra that they may not happen at all or be available for the cabin you want.

So if you know what you are doing you book at the beginning at the end but not in the middle. This is the same advice I have been gaining for years. There is no fluid pricing now that has finished apart from Getaways to shift cabins.

It is clear and out in the open. It was not before. I can remember booking through my Local TA early in our cruising and the price went up because she could not book what we wanted.

As most of you know we have to book suites and there are not many of them so we have to book early. This year we have a hell of a deal when booked this Friday. So I will be happy. If we had waited we would not have had a cruise at all. However even if we had been able to book any cabin we would have still been booking now for 2014.

There's a suite available as a Getaway deal on Adonia to the North Cape in May which has been reduced from £4,569 to £2,099 ... if you can fit it in ;)
Keep smiling, it's good for your well being

On our cruise on Azura in November2013 the price of the suites were £4000 on brochure release right up until February and then P&O reduced the price to £1799 and this was not a Getaway deal. Granted if it was under the Vantage you would be liable to one hell of a lot of OBC but Vantage was not available then. If I would have booked one on brochure release and paid £4000 I would have been seriously annoyed because who could spend that amount of OBC if it did come under the Vantage fare. We seriously considered cancelling our SDL cabin and booking one but after phoning P&O we decided against it.

If you need to know the prices of the different grades for the P&O 2014-2015 cruises, Iglu cruises are showing them on their website. You can do a search on the ship or the date you require and then under the Inside Cabin price click on “Full details of this cruise”, then click on “View all cabins”.
