Well you might want a little flutter on I AM Maximus for this years Grand National ( March 5th )....he won it last year and is 9 this year
and you can still get him at 14/1 at William Hill but lower prices elsewhere ;)

Never say never Pompy, but it would take a gladiatorial feat if Maximus can carry 11st.12lbs to victory. Only the great Red Rum has carried that kind of weight and that was over 40 years ago… I’ll be looking elsewhere.

I’m presently looking in the direction of “Iroko” and “Monbeg Genius” (although I’m not sure the latter will make the cut)

With Cheltenham just round the corner I’m struggling to contain my excitement…stay tuned for Onelifes comprehensive form selections and bets. :D

You are right about the extra weight but If Maximus gets a clean run I could see him making 3rd place.

The odds on Iroko are about 12/1 odds very short for a 7 yr old but the weight is a big plus factor...10st 11lbs
odds on Monbeg Genius are about 33/1 he did come 4th in the welsh national .....so a decent priced fun bet

I have still to make up my mind but maybe as a fun bet Galvin an older horse age 11 is at 33/1

I wouldn’t try and put you off Galvin, especially as the National isn’t the lottery it used to be. His age might be slightly against him but putting that aside you do need a horse that stays, jumps and has a bit of class, so yes, I can see him filling one of the places.

As soon as Betfred goes nrnb (None runner no Bet) I shall be on Monbeg Genius with a saver on Iroko.

Just hope Monbeg Genius gets in as he ticks all the right boxes for me.

No doubt we’ll both be saying “well, we didn’t see that one coming” after the race...but hey’ that’s racing. :D

regarding Iroko......last time a horse with 5 letters in the name won was in 1966 ( Anglo ) :o
if you go by that theory then Galvin also has a slim chance of winning ( Lucius 1978 )

The only horse Onelife is likely to get a winner on is one that rocks.

:shh: Actually maybe you guys are being a bit unfair to Onelife, I think he got the winner of the Grand national two years ago and last year he got a third place at decent odds with Minella Indo 28/1 so maybe time to think about a small bet on his Monbeg Genius :?:
